The (coded autistic) character often explains or expands on things during a conversation, as if adding a footnote to an essay. Usually the footnote is unnecessary (the info is already known) or extraneous (it's off topic & not relevant at the time).
It's played more as if he's assuming he's the most knowledgeable person in the room, a bit like mansplaining, but somehow more endearing.
