@autismsupsoc I have so many that I like. But an all time fave is Mareep
@autismsupsoc Cottonee! Klawf! Glimmora! Drifblim!
@autismsupsoc skitty. skitty skitty skitty
@autismsupsoc dragon type is my fave type, buuut design-wise... there are so many, i love mega charizard X, kricketune, ditto (very gender), mawile, girafarig and ho-oh

@autismsupsoc Lugia, Latios, Lucario, Reshiram, Lunala.

And these are just my top favourites.

@autismsupsoc do you know what the source art is for this one?
@autismsupsoc
I particularly like a lot of dark and ghost type pokemon, especially Gengar,
Yveltal, Giratina and Sableye, but also really like Salamance.
@autismsupsoc I wonder how that compares to the general population. I’ve been gatekept by plenty of NT people.
@Elizabeth3 @autismsupsoc Interesting question - I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and then waste a lot of energy extricating myself from stressful situations. I don't think autistic people judge and rank others instantly by clothing, job status etc. But I do sometimes get intimidated on twitter by other autistic people who berate or block anyone before they've finished their sentence. But usually I think we're less hung up on signifiers of identity and social hierarchy. I definitely don't encounter the toxic ageism I often expertience from NTs. It'd be funny if everyone yells at me now though 🤣

@autismsupsoc
The highest statement of endearment I can give a friend, and the list who get this is extremely tiny, is "You don't cost me any spoons". Those on that short list get permission to contact me even when I've gone for alone time. These same friends get the benefit I will, wothout hesitation, burn spoons I cant afford or dont even have if they need me in crisis. They are priceless friends.

Currently, this list consists of 1 human, and 1 cat.

@autismsupsoc Thinking about it, that makes sense: it's the "pairing that looks deeply unlikely at first but then makes total sense as the relationship develops" – lots of dramatic and comedic potential (the Wednesday and Enid example is an especially good one – I thought the whole point was going to be them being antagonistic to one another, until I started watching the show)

@autismsupsoc

So we are diagnosing fictional characters, most of them probably written by non autistic people, based on clichés, now?

That's beyond dumb, it's harmful.

And it's not even taking into account that it's an incredible stretch to call any of these characters, except for one, "overtly" autistic.

@autismsupsoc My son (is #autistic | has #autism) to such a degree that he can only communicate with a small set of Makaton signs. So this distinction means nothing to him and he cannot participate in forums like this. He loves walking, sensory play, music, baking, tidying, etc.. His mother and I describe him as having autism because we feel that to reduce his identity to just autism is too restrictive.
@autismsupsoc I agree. Autism is not something I can pick up and put down.
@autismsupsoc I might be a bit annoyed by a typo in the 14th line from the end.
@autismsupsoc I'm guessing that me reading the entire text is just another good sign that my self dx is valid 😅
@autismsupsoc
4th wall breaking is also one of my favorite things in video games.... And I only recall seeing it in indie games. (I am not including tutorial instructions in that statement)

@autismsupsoc My Dad made so much more sense once I realised this, lol.

(He was WW2 generation, so there was no chance he was ever going to have heard of Autism in the way that we have. I'm fairly sure that my Mum had ADHD too -- since it's possible I have both.)

@DarkSheepArts @autismsupsoc my dad too, I'm convinced he's autistic but he is sure he's not. I'll give you an example of his behaviour, he can't eat if the windows are open!

@arevvik @autismsupsoc

Lol, aye, that checks out. My Dad has passed now (a long time ago) and I think he might have been okay with the idea if someone had explained it to him, but in 80s Wales, there was no concept that Autism was anything other than Rainman/that lad who did really good art from memory.

@arevvik and it's his choice to self-identify how he wants, these are subjective descriptors, not cause-identifying explanations, and everyone is ultimately the expert on how well those descriptors do or don't resonate with their own experience.
@autismsupsoc What does secondary sexual attraction mean?

@LivaBattleangel

Primary sexual attraction is lust at first *sense* (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell) ...

Secondary sexual attraction is anything that an individual person finds sexually arousing that isn't Primary.

For example, someone might have sexual attraction for another after forming an emotional connection or sharing an experience.

Many Autists are Peritiosexual, meaning sexually attracted to displays of skill or expertise.

There is no limit as to what Secondary Sexual Attraction can be, its basically defined as "not primary".

Many Autists are demisexual and don't have primary sexual attraction but fail to realize that the majority of people do, resulting in a lot of confusion in relationships.

Almost 50% of Autistic respondents to one of our polls identified as demisexual.

@autismsupsoc
sexual appetite is pretty well down to a person's lifestyle, friends & character traits.

Also opportunity to have and experience of having sexual relations matters big time!

The sexual label you give yourself is personal, not open for debate (unless you get confused by the terms) and true!

@autismsupsoc ok, wow, I hadn't thought of the act of acceptance as a love language. I think I grok it, but I'd love to hear from others what that means to them, @actuallyautistic how do you feel about that?

#AutisticLove #LoveLanguages #ActuallyAutistic

@loops @autismsupsoc @actuallyautistic knowing that my fiancé accepts me for when I am, disorders and all, is actually one of my fave things about the relationship. When I stim or do echolalia or hyperfixate and he just looks at me with love it’s the best feeling in the world to know he not only understands me but loves me for my quirks. So to me yes it’s a love language.

@Believer48 @loops @autismsupsoc @actuallyautistic

Took me a while to accept "acceptance" as a love language too but acceptance is what I feel from my friend that I refer to as my soul sista.

On a side note, I've seen "this reminded me of you" called "penguin pebbling". I really like that name.

@autismsupsoc Also, I've seen the "this reminded me of you" referred to before as "penguin pebbling" - I don't remember the source, but it's based on the idea that penguins express affection just by bringing each other nice rocks they think the other will like. #LoveLanguages #AutisticLove #AutisticLoveLanguage

@autismsupsoc

Possibly my favourite meme of all time.
Being in the impossible small venn overlap of Pushing Daisies fan and autistic with these romantic needs met.

@autismsupsoc oh. This explains my irrational fear of weed whackers. 🫠🙃😀
@autismsupsoc
Some fears autistics have may seem irrational from an allistic view point but when you look at the situation from an autistic one it is totally rational. For example my twins used to refuse to use the toilets at school. What they were actually afraid of wasn't the toilets but sensory overload caused by someone using the hand drier. Once the hand drier was turned off at the wall so some kid couldn't turn it on when they were in there they were fine.
