Dani Caldeira moved from Brazil to Manitoba in 2023 to serve as a pastor in a small community. Her son, now almost 15, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at age two. In his case, this means he is non-verbal, unable even to communicate when he feels pain or thirst.

Is anyone here familiar with using PECS sheets or other point-at-what-I-want tools for seniors that are losing their verbal ability?

I'm making a poster for my Grandma's bedside with options for her to point at, in order to communicate her needs better to family and attendants.

I so love this! It reminds me that my most common way of communicating in scenes are body motion and non-verbal auditory expressions. No one playing with or observing me misunderstands how I’m feeling.

My most difficult challenge with scenes is starting them in the first place. So many sensory and social cue barriers! In private sex parties, I’m way more comfy going straight to the play rooms and let the touch cues do their magic.

There is something weird appeasing and calming about suddenly feeling non-verbal (some people refer to it as verbal shutdown).

Everything is so quiet and calm. My head slows down quite a lot as well, probably because I'm depressed and shutting down, but in a strange way, what is supposed to be a negative symptoms actually fills like my brain slowly resetting itself back to a safe state. It's empty, but I enjoy the stillness of it, it's calm.
