Previously on Midlife Crisis Crossover: It’s that time again! This weekend my wife Anne and I attended the latest edition of the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Exposition (“C2E2″), a three-day extravaganza of comic books, actors, creators, toys, props, publishers, freebies, plush dolls, variant covers, anime we don’t recognize, and walking and walking and walking and walking. We missed the inaugural 2010 gala and presciently skipped the February 2020 pre-shutdown soiree, but more often than not, whenever they send out the call to convene, we’re happy to answer... ...although we dragged our feet on committing to this year's edition as we waited for them to invite actors that we hadn't already met and who've performed in shows and/or movies we really enjoyed. Less than a month before showtime, we were finally feeling it and bought tickets. But we planned for a less epic adventure than usual. It was still fun! We have fewer anecdotes than usual, though. Esta colaboración entre Marvel y Archie Comics ocurrió en una época de crisis financiera para las editoriales, donde buscaban atraer lectores mediante combinaciones absurdas. La trama sigue a Frank Castle, el vigilante más violento de Nueva York, en una misión para capturar a un narcotraficante llamado "Red" que se parece físicamente a Archie Andrews y que se ha escondido en el pacífico pueblo de Riverdale.
Un detalle fascinante es que el cómic fue ilustrado por dos artistas distintos para mantener la esencia visual de cada universo: John Buscema dibujó a The Punisher con el estilo crudo y realista de Marvel, mientras que Stan Goldberg se encargó de Archie y sus amigos con el estilo caricaturesco clásico de la serie. Para justificar que un asesino como Castle no masacrara a nadie en una revista apta para todo público, el guion de Batton Lash establece que Frank solo tiene permitido usar armas no letales durante su estancia en Riverdale, llegando incluso a utilizar una pistola de dardos tranquilizantes.
El éxito de este experimento fue tal que ambas editoriales publicaron versiones idénticas bajo sus propios sellos, variando únicamente la ilustración de la portada. En la versión de Marvel, el título era "The Punisher Meets Archie", mientras que en la de Archie era "Archie Meets the Punisher". A pesar de lo ridículo de la premisa, la historia es considerada hoy una pieza de culto que respeta las personalidades de ambos protagonistas, culminando con una escena donde Frank Castle admite que Riverdale es el único lugar donde se siente fuera de lugar debido a la excesiva "pureza" del entorno.

#Marvel movies have fallen off mostly for me, being an avid fan of the comics growing up, but the original DareDevil series was the first Marvel series and they sourced the right people, like Philip Silvera and the likes, who also did wonders bringing the vision of John Wick to life, proving once again that stunts simply can not be replaced with cheap #CGI or #AI.
First episode of #DareDevil was awesome. Looking forward to the next!

¿Sabían que Kamala Khan, mejor conocida como la actual Ms. Marvel, marcó un cambio en la industria al ser el primer personaje de fe musulmana en protagonizar su propio título mensual en la historia de Marvel Comics en 2014?
Aunque el nombre clave "Ms. Marvel" fue utilizado originalmente por Carol Danvers desde 1977, la creación de Kamala por parte de las editoras Sana Amanat y Stephen Wacker, junto a la guionista G. Willow Wilson, fue diseñada para reflejar la experiencia de la segunda generación de inmigrantes en Nueva Jersey.
Un detalle sobre sus poderes es que, a diferencia de la versión del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel (UCM) donde utiliza construcciones de luz sólida provenientes de un brazalete, en los cómics Kamala es una Inhumana con habilidades polimórficas. Tras quedar expuesta a las Nieblas Terrígenas, desarrolló la capacidad de "embellecerse" (embiggen), lo que le permite alterar la masa y forma de su cuerpo a nivel molecular, permitiéndole estirar extremidades, cambiar su tamaño físico o incluso sanar heridas críticas al regresar a su forma original.
En julio de 2023, cuando el personaje fue reintroducido como una híbrida Inhumana y Mutante en el cómic "X-Men: Hellfire Gala". Este cambio narrativo, coescrito por la actriz Iman Vellani —quien interpreta al personaje en la pantalla—, se realizó para alinear la continuidad del papel impreso con la revelación genética presentada en la serie de televisión, consolidando a Kamala como un puente biológico único entre dos de las facciones más importantes del universo de superhéroes.
