Oh dear, I'm feeling political today. It's just that it's dawned on me that 'zero tolerance' only seems to mean putting extra police in poor, run-down areas, and not in the Stock Exchange.

He'd never realized that, deep down inside, what he really wanted to do was make things go splat.

Given the state of the world, one might need to find friends amongst strangers at some point.
I'd accept "De Chelonian Mobile" as codeword then. Discworld readers do know why.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist
on coming along and trying to put things in it.

There are many rhymes about magpies, but none of them is very reliable

Today's #HashTagGames needs several quotes from the TerryBot @terrybot
"We got a talk about it at school. There's lots of stuff most girls can't do, but you've got to pretend they can, so that more of them will."

Crowley had been extremely impressed with the warranties offered by the computer industry, and had in fact sent a bundle Below to the department that drew up the Immortal Soul agreements, with a yellow memo form attached just saying: "Learn, guys."

Child A's latest three books have arrived. At the rate they're going at this will last about a week.
I'm amazed by their reading speed. This year already they've read all (7!) Mortal Engines books. Luckily they seem open to #Discworld and they've already read the first two Tiffany Aching books (the second one currently being re-read).
I already own all the 'grown up' Discworld books they can graduate into. Also this way I can read the Tiffany Aching books, as the only one I've read so far is Wee Free Men.
We do get a lot of books from the library, but it's often hard to get the exact next book you need in a series.
