Many years ago Daniel (@kinnison), Richard, and I kept a group blog called Yakking. One of the best things we wrote was a series on truisms. This was by Daniel, with some input from the rest of us. I still recommend these. They're very deep truths, despite being surface-level funny.

The #vanguardist #truism of a "scientific" #revolution isn't true in the sense it's used in, but it's kind of true in other ways.

Revolution is always developing and ongoing. It belongs to #humanity. We figure out what works from observed #evidence, not what we want to work. It's grounded in the real #world, with its #living complexities.

Of all sciences, revolution is least like #Western #science, with its disembodied universalisms. But that's how vanguards paint it.

When it comes to #gender & #power dynamics in #patriarchal settings, almost all issues are #normative & #socio-cultural. There is no single switch-on solution. However, one of the most imp things that mildly pushes the envelope, is plain ol economic empowerment of women. But this needs to translate to individual accounts and financial + spending autonomy, which is then interlinked back to the normative.
