I had forgotten how completely fascinated I used to be by the Felix the Cat #cartoon
The Professor *lives in an observatory*. His nephew, Poindexter, has a not just an incredible lab/workshop but also a....button in the center of his chest...?
(I just realized how clearly Dexter's Lab is so so so clearly based on Poindexter--it's right there in the name and location! Plus they look similar. Except for the button.
OMG, and #Futurama also has a Professor and his nephew living in an observatory.)
There's also many weird inventions and robots.
Plus the magic bag of tricks which also fascinated me. It's a cloth bag but can form hard shapes? So you just see bag fabric pattern in the shape of, say, a tank. It basically looks like MSPaint-level texture mapping.
