Un'operazione per rilevare l'isola di Kharg, che si trova a 15 miglia al largo e processa il 90% delle esportazioni di petrolio greggio dell'Iran, potrebbe mettere le truppe statunitensi più direttamente nella linea di fuoco, sottolinea Axios. Per questo, si passerà in caso all'azione solo dopo che l'esercito americano avrà ulteriormente degradato la capacità militare dell'Iran intorno allo stretto di Hormuz.
"Un mese per prendere il controllo di Kharg"
"Abbiamo bisogno di circa un mese per indebolire di più gli iraniani con bombardamenti, catturare l'isola e poi prenderli per le palle e usarla per i negoziati", ha detto una fonte vicina alla Casa Bianca.
L'ipotesi di aumentare la presenza di militari Usa 
Un'operazione del genere, se approvata, richiederebbe anche più truppe. Tre diverse unità marine sono in viaggio verso la regione. La Casa Bianca e il Pentagono stanno pensando di inviare ancora più truppe presto, ha detto una fonte. Tuttavia la decisione di invadere Kharg "non è stata presa" al momento, ha assicurato un alto funzionario dell'amministrazione.
Da Kharg transita il 90% dell'export di petrolio iraniano  
L'isola di Kharg, nel Golfo Persico, è un piccolo territorio di circa 25 chilometri quadrati situato a una ventina di chilometri dalle coste iraniane. Da qui passa circa il 90% del petrolio esportato dall'Iran, destinato in gran parte alla Cina.

Le infrastrutture dell'isola sono considerate vitali per l'economia del Paese. La risposta che la premier italiana Giorgia Meloni ha dato alla richiesta del presidente Usa Donald Trump di aiutare gli Usa a riaprire lo stretto di Hormuz “dimostra esattamente quello che sto dicendo da tempo, di fronte ad una narrazione mediatica totalmente falsa: Giorgia Meloni non è un ponte per l’America con l’establishment politico europeo”. Lo afferma l’ex consigliere di Trump Steve Bannon in un colloquio con Repubblica.
“Questo comportamento avrà enormi implicazioni per quanto riguarda l’Ucraina. Dopo essere stati presi in giro dalla Nato, non vedo come il popolo americano possa appoggiare ulteriori finanziamenti o garanzie di sicurezza”, afferma Bannon, che – secondo il quotidiano – ‘spiega così la sua critica a Meloni, che non può o non vuole fare da ponte con l’Europa’: “Quando gli Stati Uniti hanno avuto bisogno di un alleato che si schierasse e sostenesse uno sforzo navale congiunto, per mantenere aperte le rotte di Hormuz, del Mar Rosso e di Suez, dove passano il petrolio e il gas diretti verso l’Europa, si è tirata indietro”. Sulla missione in Iran, ‘che Bannon e la base Maga non avevano in realtà mai voluto’, Bannon ‘spiega così le sue riserve’: “Ci sono divergenze tra Usa e Israele sugli obiettivi della campagna. Il momento di svolta è avvenuto quando lo Stato ebraico ha bombardato le infrastrutture petrolifere iraniane, perché ciò va contro gli interessi americani”.
“Facendo così si alimenta il nazionalismo persiano, che riavvicina la popolazione al regime, o comunque lo rafforza, perché sentendosi attaccati gli iraniani hanno prima di tutto la necessità di difendersi”, afferma Bannon. E quindi ora, secondo l’ex consigliere di Trump: “Dovremmo andare a Dubai, e gli altri luoghi pirata del Golfo usati per riciclare i soldi del regime, sequestrando tutto. Questo perché soffocherebbe il governo, ma anche perché nei mesi scorsi sono state le difficoltà economiche a generare le proteste che potrebbero farlo cadere”.

The turning point occurred when the Jewish state bombed Iranian oil infrastructure, because that goes against American interests.”

“Doing so fuels Persian nationalism, which brings the population closer to the regime, or at least strengthens it, because feeling attacked, Iranians first of all need to defend themselves,” Bannon says. AGI - Il prezzo del gas apre in forte rialzo in Europa. Al TTF i future sul gas naturale hanno registrato un'impennata di oltre il 25%, superando i 68 euro per MWh e raggiungendo i livelli più alti degli ultimi tre anni, dopo che l'Iran ha sferrato attacchi contro infrastrutture energetiche chiave in tutto il Medio Oriente, intensificando i timori relativi all'approvvigionamento.
L'Iran ha effettuato attacchi missilistici contro la città industriale di Ras Laffan in Qatar, un complesso che ospita il più grande impianto di esportazione di GNL al mondo, uno dei numerosi impianti energetici che Teheran aveva promesso di prendere di mira in seguito a un attacco israeliano al giacimento di gas iraniano di South Pars.
