A ★★½ review of The Descent: Part 2 (2009)

A completely unneccesary sequel to one of the best horror movies of the aughties. Relies on the soap opera plot point of amnesia to a key character because otherwise there wouldn't be any movie. Fails on every level when compared to the Neil Marshall original. The cave sets look laughably cheap and the once terrifying cave creatures look like swap meet cosplay. Almost in apology, the viewer is bathed in gore. Shauna MacDonald's haunting performance in the original is replaced by a 90's one dimensional action heroine and even by horror movie standards there are implausibilities you can't gloss over.

#Watching UNDERTONE

The biggest shock in this movie is that you kind of feel sorry for podcasters...

A(mbiguity)24 drops microbudget horror that forces you to listen.

A ★★★½ review of undertone (2025)

The biggest shock in this movie is that you kind of feel sorry for podcasters... A(mbiguity)24 drops microbudget horror that forces you to listen. You spend most of this bottle horror movie silent like you were in A Quiet Place because you don't want to miss hearing anything. The much-maligned ending works on its own terms even if it's a case of the setup being more exciting than the eventual payoff. You'll never hear children's songs in the same way again. And never look at children the same way again because they are frightening. If you're into cheap jump scares

Go see #ProjectHailMary on the biggest screen you can find! It’s stellar! 🤩

Right, I should post my #LetterboxdFriday .

Watched the first two Exorcist films in prep for Boorman and the Devil at BUFF.

Finally caught The Bride!, and I have thoughts! Which will go up tomorrow.

Hoppers was really good! I'm such a sucker for uncynical stories of hope and collectivism. So of course, I was a teary mess by the end.

Slanted covers the same ground as Dìdi (弟弟) , but more clumsily. It started taking interesting swings at the end, but it was too late.
