Il Fatto Quotidiano: “Trump tratta l’invio in Congo di oltre mille afghani: tra loro ci sono 400 bimbi”

Le opzioni a cui sta pensando l’amministrazione di Donald Trump sono due: o tornare a casa a una vita sotto il dominio dei talebani e l’invio in Congo, un Paese che sta affrontando una delle peggiori crisi umanitarie al mondo. Dopo aver sospeso il programma americano di reinsediamento per gli afghani che avevano sostenuto lo sforzo bellico Usa, il capo della Casa Bianca è in trattative per inviarne fino a 1.100 nella Repubblica democratica del Congo, inclusi 400 bambini. Una destinazione tra le più infauste sul pianeta.
Secondo il New York Times, il gruppo comprende interpreti per le forze armate statunitensi, ex membri delle forze per le operazioni speciali afghane e familiari di militari americani. Gli afghani vivono in un limbo in Qatar da più di un anno, dopo essere stati evacuati dagli Stati Uniti per la loro sicurezza in quanto avevano sostenuto le forze americane durante la guerra contro i talebani, iniziata nel 2001.
Shawn VanDiver, presidente del gruppo umanitario AfghanEvac, ha riferito di essere stato informato del piano relativo al Congo da funzionari del Dipartimento di Stato, aggiungendo che agli afghani sarebbe offerta anche la possibilità di tornare a casa. In un regime che, sapendo che hanno collaborato con le forze Usa, non gli lascerebbe via di scampo.

The options being considered by the Donald Trump administration are two: to return home to a life under the dominion of the Taliban and the sending to the Congo, a country facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. After suspending the American resettlement program for Afghans who had supported the US military effort, the head of the White House is in negotiations to send up to 1,100 of them to the Democratic Republic of Congo, including 400 children. One of the most infamous destinations on the planet.

According to the New York Times, the group includes interpreters for US armed forces, former members of Afghan special operations forces, and families of American military personnel. The Afghans live in limbo in Qatar for more than a year, after being evacuated by the United States for their safety as they had supported American forces during the war against the Taliban, which began in 2001.

Shawn VanDiver, president of the humanitarian group AfghanEvac, reported being informed of the plan for the Congo by State Department officials, adding that Afghans would also be offered the opportunity to return home. In a regime that, knowing they had collaborated with US forces, would leave them with no escape.

Il presidente Donald Trump ha dichiarato martedì in un'intervista alla Cnbc di non voler estendere il cessate il fuoco con l'Iran, aggiungendo che gli Stati Uniti si trovano in una posizione negoziale forte e che alla fine otterranno quello che ha definito un ottimo accordo. “Non voglio farlo. Non abbiamo tutto questo tempo”, ha detto il Capo della Casa Bianca quando gli è stata chiesta la possibilità di estendere la tregua. Trump ha anche affermato che gli Usa si trovano in una posizione negoziale forte con l'Iran e che possono concludere un "ottimo accordo". Per poi sottolineare che Teheran ha violato più volte il cessate il fuoco in questi giorni. La tregua scadrà domani sera.
Stati Uniti e Iran al momento hanno fatto sapere che torneranno in Pakistan per colloqui che si terranno nella capitale Islamabad. Funzionari hanno riferito all'associazione Press che i "mediatori guidati dal Pakistan" hanno ricevuto conferma che il vicepresidente statunitense J.D. Vance e il presidente del parlamento iraniano Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arriveranno a Islamabad domani mattina per guidare le rispettive delegazioni. Ieri sera Ghalibaf avrva dichiarato in un post sui social network che l'Iran non avrebbe partecipato ai negoziati finché fosse stato minacciato, avvertendo inoltre che erano "pronti a rivelare nuove carte sul campo di battaglia".

Vance and the President of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will arrive in Islamabad tomorrow morning to lead their respective delegations. Yesterday evening, Ghalibaf had stated on social media that Iran would not participate in negotiations as long as it was threatened, also warning that they were “ready to reveal new cards on the battlefield.”

È probabilmente una fase di passaggio, anche di stanca forse, se le variazioni non superano mai lo 0,3%. Gli orientamenti sono stati misurati rispetto ai dati raccolti lo scorso 13 aprile. Stabile Fratelli d’Italia al 29,3%, Forza Italia al 7,8%, Lega al 6,5%, Futuro Nazionale al 3,4%, Noi Moderati all’1,1%. Nessuna rimonta dalle parti delle opposizioni con il Partito Democratico che è quello che scivola di più, al 21,8%. Il Movimento 5 Stelle guadagna appena lo 0,2%. Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra è al 6,7%. Azione è al 3,3%, Italia Viva è al 2,4%. +Europa è all’1,5%. Alla generica voce “altro partito” è il 4%. Non si esprime il 29% degli intervistati, un dato in crescita dell’1%.

Il Tempo: Usa, arrestata trafficante di armi iraniana che acquistava bombe dai Pasdaran e le spediva in Sudan

Il trafficante di armi super ricercato era una donna iraniana che viveva in California e trattava con i Pasdaran l'acquisto di bombe da inviare in Sudan. Shamim Mafi, 44 anni, è stata arrestata all'aeroporto di Los Angeles con l'accusa di traffico di armi per conto di Teheran, secondo quanto riferito dal Dipartimento di Giustizia statunitense. Secondo i magistrati americani la donna "ha fatto da intermediario nella vendita di droni, bombe, spolette e milioni di proiettili fabbricati dall'Iran e venduti al Sudan". Il procuratore statunitense Bill Essayli ha scritto sul social network X che Mafi viveva nel sobborgo di Woodland Hills, a Los Angeles, e "aveva ottenuto la residenza permanente legale negli Stati Uniti nel 2016". L'iraniana ora rischia una pena massima di 20 anni di reclusione in una prigione federale in caso di condanna.
Una denuncia penale datata 12 marzo sostiene che Mafi e un complice non identificato gestivano una società in Oman, la Atlas International Business, attraverso la quale venivano trafficate armi e munizioni. La società avrebbe ricevuto pagamenti per oltre 7 milioni di dollari nel 2025. Separatamente, secondo i documenti del tribunale, Mafi e il complice hanno intermediato la vendita di 55.000 spolette per bombe al Ministero della Difesa sudanese. "In relazione alla transazione, Mafi ha presentato una lettera d'intenti al Corpo delle Guardie Rivoluzionarie Islamiche iraniane (IRGC) per l'acquisto di spolette per bombe destinate al Sudan", si legge nella denuncia.
Le Nazioni Unite hanno recentemente avvertito che il Sudan rischia di precipitare in una "carestia su vasta scala e nel collasso" per via della guerra tra l'esercito e le Forze di Supporto Rapido, un gruppo paramilitare. Guerra in corso da ormai quattro anni. Denise Brown, responsabile delle Nazioni Unite in Sudan, ha dichiarato giovedì che il Sudan sta affrontando la più grande crisi umanitaria al mondo e che le armi provenienti dall'estero sono in parte responsabili. L'Onu ha chiesto alle potenze straniere di smettere di alimentare la guerra, ma non hanno accusato alcuno Stato in particolare. Da un lato, l'esercito sudanese è stato sostenuto da Egitto e Arabia Saudita e ha impiegato droni di fabbricazione turca e iraniana. Mentre gli Emirati Arabi Uniti negano di aver fornito armi alle forze paramilitari.

Arrested arms trafficker Iranian who was buying bombs from the Pasdaran and sending them to Sudan.

The wanted arms dealer was an Iranian woman living in California who was brokering the purchase of bombs to be sent to Sudan for the Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran). Shamim Mafi, 44, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on charges of arms trafficking on behalf of Tehran, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. According to U.S. prosecutors, the woman “served as an intermediary in the sale of drones, bombs, detonators, and millions of rounds manufactured in Iran and sold to Sudan.” U.S. prosecutor Bill Essayli wrote on the social network X that Mafi lived in the Woodland Hills suburb of Los Angeles and “obtained legal permanent residency in the United States in 2016.” The Iranian woman now risks a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.

A criminal complaint dated March 12 alleges that Mafi and an unidentified accomplice managed an Oman-based company, Atlas International Business, through which weapons and ammunition were trafficked. The company received payments of over $7 million in 2023. Separately, according to court documents, Mafi and the accomplice facilitated the sale of 55,000 bomb detonators to the Sudanese Ministry of Defense. “In relation to the transaction, Mafi submitted a letter of intent to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Guard Corps for the purchase of bomb detonators intended for Sudan,” the complaint reads.

The United Nations recently warned that Sudan risks falling into a “large-scale famine and collapse” due to the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group. The war has been ongoing for four years. Denise Brown, the UN’s representative in Sudan, stated on Thursday that Sudan is facing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis and that foreign arms are partly responsible. The UN has called on foreign powers to stop fueling the war, but has not accused any particular state. Egyptian and Saudi Arabian support has backed the Sudanese army, which has used Turkish and Iranian-made drones. The United Arab Emirates deny providing arms to the paramilitary forces.
