Ich habe heute zum allerersten Mal im Simulator einen #Airbus 320neo aus „Cold and Dark” hochgefahren, bis er bereit zum Taxiing war - ich habe eine gute Stunde dafür benötigt. Die erste Aktion war dann etwas zu viel Schub beim Anfahren und promptes Parken *im* Terminalgebäude 🤦♂️ Quasi das „Gas und Bremse verwechselt” der Luftfahrt.
Jetzt erstmal Abendessen kochen.
So. Gestern neuer Versuch. Klappte alles schon besser, es verging aber sicher auch eine dreiviertel Stunde, bis alles lief.
Diesmal habe ich das Terminalgebäude in Ruhe gelassen, aber dafür vergessen, die Höhe in der FCU auf „managed“ zu stellen. Jedenfalls vermute ich, dass das das Problem war.
Der Airbus hörte nicht auf zu steigen und so war er natürlich viel zu hoch für die Approach-Prozedur aus dem Flight Plan.
Aber schöne Bilder gab's.
Oh, die Condor-Lackierung am HeadwindSimulations A330-900neo ist wirklich schick. Gestern Abend einen entspannten Flug von Barcelona nach Madrid gehabt :-)
Am Ende gab es noch einen Go Around in #Ljubljana, weil ich das Flugzeug nicht rechtzeitig auf die Runway bekommen habe. Nach kurzem Overspeed-Schreck (Auto-Thrust war aus) und erneutem Einsortieren klappte es dann im zweiten Anlauf.
Denver → Salt Lake City. Standesgemäß in Delta Airlines Livery über die Rocky Mountains.

Mit BeyondATC gibt es jetzt Kommunikation mit einer synthetischen Flugverkehrskontrolle, in diesem Fall mit einem wunderbaren französischen Akzent ❤️
Der vorbereitete Flugplan wurde natürlich im Flug mehrfach geändert (ein Direct hier, eine neue Landebahn dort, …), was für zusätzliche Abwechslung unterwegs sorgt 🤓

So toll der französische Akzent der simulierten Air Traffic Control beim Flug von Paris klang, so übel war der deutsche Akzent gestern, beim Flug aus Frankfurt heraus 😁

(Bisschen hoch im Short Final, aber das PAPI habe ich dann wenigstens noch von ⬜ ⬜ ⬜ ⬜ auf ⬜ ⬜ ⬜ 🟥 bekommen 😬)

Schöne Sightseeing-Strecke mit interessantem Taxiing auf Korfu: Hier rollt man direkt auf der Runway runter zum Lineup für die 34, am Ende gibt es einen Wendekreis zum Umdrehen. Außerdem gab's beim Arrival einen wunderschönen Rundflug um den Vesuv in der untergehenden Sonne 🌋

Ostwind in Berlin und Departure von der 24R bedeutet, dass man vielleicht meinen Wohnort erspähen kann.
Unterwegs gab es zufällig einen Blick durch die Wolken auf die Insel Hiddensee.
In Kopenhagen habe ich die Go Around-Prozedur geübt, das klappte problemlos und BeyondATC konnte mich sogar wieder für den nächsten Approach einfädeln.

After takeoff and a big 270° turn, I cruised straight over Miquelon-Langlade (remember the last season of Peaky Blinders?) heading northwest. Hugged Newfoundland’s south coast all the way to the island’s western tip, where the tiny St. Andrews Codroy Valley airstrip marked the day’s finish line.

Back in the Daher TBM 930, I flew an IFR trip to Port Hawkesbury. The windsock in Sydney was sticking straight out, with over 40 knots coming in at an angle from the front. The whole flight was correspondingly bumpy and included icing; I think I’ll repeat it in better weather.

Leaving Nova Scotia for the last stop on Canadian soil at the small St. Stephen Airport, directly at the border to the Unites States. The runway there is only about 200 metres longer than the TBM’s required landing distance, so there’s not much margin for error on approach.

Berlin Regional is located a bit north of the White Mountain National Forest; the best-known peak here is Mt. Washington. The winter landscape offers a beautiful view from above.

We received clearance from ATC to fly parallel to Manhattan for a while before turning southwest. The weather was fine first, but took a turn for the worse: Rain severely reduced visibility in Philadelphia, bringing it dangerously close to the minimums required for a safe landing. I suppose it isn’t always sunny in Philadelphia after all.

The conditions were perfect for a memorable morning flight. I took the Cessna 152 out of the hangar for a short, 40-nautical-mile VFR flight into the sunrise. Practicing coordinated flight and VOR/OBS navigation proved more challenging than IFR operations.

Today is the day I realized that the shortcut for stopping video recording in the AMD Radeon Software is the same one that shuts down the engine in Microsoft Flight Simulator (yeah, in flight of course).
At least I was able to capture a brief video of today’s turbulent flight.

The way out of DC is just as winding as the way in – I’m taking off from runway 01 and navigating north through strong gusts, then making a wide turn to head southeast towards Norfolk. It’s calmer at 12,000 feet, but the gusts return as I reach lower altitudes for the approach.
However, I did not land this time, as mentioned in the previous post.
