On April 23, Citizens Bank will be holding their Annual Shareholder Meeting at its headquarters in Providence, RI. In response, a coalition of progressive organizations from the surrounding area will be holding a peaceful standout that we are calling "The People's Shareholder Meeting to De-ICE Citizens Bank" outside of the headquarters building. We will hold a press conference, rally the people, sing and chant our resistance, educate the general public, and create artivism to get Citizens Bank De-ICE'd! Citizens Bank publicly presents itself as a community-centered institution committed to social responsibility. Yet the bank continues to maintain key financial relationships with CoreCivic and The GEO Group: two notorious, for-profit, prison corporations that build and operate immigration detention facilities for ICE, provide transportation services to ICE, and operate prisons for mass incarceration.
