Today marks the beginning of a new communications initiative for the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island: “Dear Rhode Island Church”

Over the next couple of years we’ll be working a team of talented communicators to share stories and images of the common life of our congregations across the state. I’ve seen some of the previews and I’m very excited about what is coming.

This first video helps to frame the whole project. I’ll be sharing more of our videos and images as they’re released. I’m hoping you’ll be inspired to visit some of the diverse communities in Rhode Island and maybe find a place that will feel like home for you too.

Dog Allergies in Spring in Rhode Island: Timing, Triggers, Breeds, and Treatment

Spring in Rhode Island brings blooming trees, greening lawns, and longer days outside with your dog — but if your dog starts scratching, licking their paws, or shaking their head more than usual as the weather warms, the season itself may be the problem. Dog allergies in spring are one of the most common concerns Rhode Island veterinarians see each year, and the state's dense mixed forests and coastal humidity create a pollen environment that can be genuinely difficult for sensitive dogs. On April 23, Citizens Bank will be holding their Annual Shareholder Meeting at its headquarters in Providence, RI. In response, a coalition of progressive organizations from the surrounding area will be holding a peaceful standout that we are calling "The People's Shareholder Meeting to De-ICE Citizens Bank" outside of the headquarters building. We will hold a press conference, rally the people, sing and chant our resistance, educate the general public, and create artivism to get Citizens Bank De-ICE'd! Citizens Bank publicly presents itself as a community-centered institution committed to social responsibility. Yet the bank continues to maintain key financial relationships with CoreCivic and The GEO Group: two notorious, for-profit, prison corporations that build and operate immigration detention facilities for ICE, provide transportation services to ICE, and operate prisons for mass incarceration. For more information about Citizens Bank’s relationship to the private prison system, go to www.De-ICECitizensBank.org or www.boycottcitizens.org. You can also contact the De-ICE Coalition at [email protected]. A core principle behind all Coalition events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Indivisible has a great safety and security resource you can review before the event: https://indivisi.org/safety. Wear weather appropriate clothing, bring water and a snack. Conanicut Island Lighthouse, Jamestown, RI 4/4/2026. One of the few remaning Rhode Island lighthouses I had yet to visit. It was first activated on April 1, 1886 featuring a fifth-order lens in a decagonal lantern room that shone a fixed red light at a height of sixty feet above the water. It was deactivated in 1933 and its lantern and lens were removed. It is currently a private residence and not open to the public. #conanicutislandlighthouse #lighthouse #phare #faro #leuchtturm #灯台 #todai #newengland #rhodeisland #jamestown #jamestownRI
