Italian News by RSSIl Tempo: Turchia, Nato schiera un altro Patriot. L'Italia: "Noi sempre leali con gli alleati"
La Nato schiererà un altro sistema di difesa aerea Patriot statunitense nel sud della Turchia. Lo ha annunciato il ministero della Difesa di Ankara, nell'ambito delle misure adottate dall'alleanza per rafforzare le difese a fronte delle minacce missilistiche legate alla guerra con l'Iran. Il sistema sarà dislocato nella provincia di Adana, dove si trova la base aerea di Incirlik, in cui sono di stanza personale Usae di altri paesi alleati. Lo riporta l'agenzia Anadolu. Già la scorsa settimana, la Turchia aveva schierato un altro sistema Patriot nella provincia sud-orientale di Malatya, nei pressi di una base radar dell'Alleanza.
La questione iraniana continua a creare tensioni anche in seno alla Nato. Ospite oggi 18 marzo nella trasmissione di approfondimento Agorà, il ministro degli Esteri Tajani ha però ribadito di "essere sempre stati leali con gli Stati Uniti e con qualsiasi presidente" e che però "questa guerra non coinvolge un'area di competenza della Nato”. L'Italia resta dunque a presidio della libertà di navigazione nel Mar Rosso e impegnata nella lotta anti-pirateria nell'area più orientale. "Naturalmente siamo a difesa di Cipro perchè è un paese europeo che è stato attaccato - ha aggiunto la Farnesina - Non siamo in guerra, nessuno ci ha chiesto di entrare in guerra. Israele e Usa hanno attaccato senza dirci nulla”. E su Hormuz il ministro sostiene che la soluzione debba essere individuata "in un percorso che le Nazioni Unite possono fare".
Gli fa eco la Difesa. In diretta a SkyTg24, Crosetto ha ribadito l'importanza delle relazioni transatlantiche nonostante le recenti tensioni e le dichiarazioni del presidente Usa Donald Trump. "Non esiste, soprattutto per noi, capacità di difesa e deterrenza senza la Nato e non esiste la Nato capace di difendere e di essere deterrente senza gli Usa - ha detto il ministro -Quindi l'alleanza con gli Usa è fondamentale per la nostra sicurezza. Questo non significa essere sempre d'accordo con qualunque cosa venga proposta dagli Stati Uniti”.
Turkey, NATO deploys another Patriot. Italy: “Always loyal with allies.”
NATO will deploy another US-made Patriot air defense system in southern Turkey. This was announced by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, as part of the measures being taken by the alliance to strengthen defenses against missile threats related to the conflict with Iran. The system will be stationed in the Adana province, where the Incirlik air base is located, which hosts US personnel and personnel from other allied countries. Anadolu Agency reports this. Last week, Turkey had already deployed another Patriot system in the southeastern province of Malatya, near an Alliance radar base.
The Iranian issue continues to create tensions even within NATO. Today, March 18th, Foreign Minister Tajani was a guest on the Agorà in-depth broadcast, but he reiterated that “he has always been loyal to the United States and to any president” and that “this war does not involve an area of NATO competence.” Italy thus remains on guard to protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and is committed to the anti-piracy fight in the easternmost area. “Naturally, we are defending Cyprus because it is a European country that has been attacked – Farnesina added – We are not in a war, no one has asked us to enter a war. Israel and the US attacked without telling us anything.” And regarding Hormuz, the minister argues that the solution must be found “along a path that the United Nations can take.”
Defense echoed this. In a live broadcast on SkyTg24, Crosetto reaffirmed the importance of transatlantic relations despite recent tensions and statements from US President Donald Trump. “There is, especially for us, no capacity for defense and deterrence without NATO, and there is no NATO capable of defending and deterring without the US – the minister said – Therefore, the alliance with the US is fundamental for our security. This does not mean always agreeing with everything proposed by the United States.”
