Un segnale positivo dopo le recenti tensioni. Giovedì e venerdì prossimi il segretario di Stato degli Stati Uniti, Marco Rubio, sarà a Roma per un tour di incontri tra Santa Sede e governo. Lo scrive il Corriere della Sera che parla del tentativo di 'disgelo' delle relazioni bilaterali. Per Rubio è la terza visita in Italia, dopo quella dello scorso maggio a Villa Madama e la presenza all'inaugurazione delle olimpiadi invernali, con J.D. Vance, a febbraio.
L'agenda romana di Rubio non è ancora chiusa. Prevede al momento tre incontri. Per prima cosa vedrà il Segretario di stato della Santa Sede Pietro Parolin. Il giorno dopo Rubio sarà dal ministro degli Esteri Antonio Tajani e con lui lo stesso giorno vedrà a pranzo il ministro della Difesa Guido Crosetto. Non è escluso, ma nemmeno confermato, un faccia a faccia tra il Segretario americano e la premier Giorgia Meloni: "La voglio incontrare", ha fatto sapere.
Sciolto un altro punto interrogativo, quello di un'udienza di Papa Leone XIV. Giovedì 7 maggio il Pontefice riceverà in Vaticano il Segretario di Stato Usa che, come detto, incontrerà anche il Segretario di Stato vaticano Parolin.

For Rubio, it is his third visit to Italy, after the one last May at Villa Madama and his presence at the inauguration of the Winter Olympics, with J.D. Vance, in February.
Rubio’s Roman agenda is not yet closed. It currently includes three meetings. First, he will meet with the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Pietro Parolin. The day after, Rubio will meet with Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, and on the same day he will have lunch with Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. A face-to-face meeting between the American Secretary and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is not ruled out, but neither confirmed: “I want to meet her,” she indicated.
Another point of uncertainty has been resolved, that of an audience with Pope Francis XIV. On Thursday, May 7th, the Pontiff will receive the U.S. Secretary of State in the Vatican, who, as stated, will also meet with the Vatican Secretary of State, Parolin.
