The Farnesina: “€1.1 million for humanitarian aid”
To support the immediate humanitarian response to the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Italian cooperation has allocated a funding of 1,150,000 euros. A contribution decided by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who ordered the funding with an act signed by Vice Minister Edmondo Cirielli. The Farnesina reported this in a note.

The funding will be made available to Italian civil society organizations with an operational presence in the provinces affected of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu.

It involves immediate interventions to stop the transmission of Ebola, strengthen epidemiological surveillance, local health system response and the trust of communities in containment measures indicated by the World Health Organization.

Resources will focus on four priority areas identified by the United Nations agencies Ocha and Oms for the prevention and control of infections; epidemiological surveillance and contact tracing; immediate health assistance and community involvement.

Humanitarian Initiatives Already in Progress
This funding adds to two ongoing humanitarian initiatives funded by Italian Cooperation for a total value of 5.5 million euros for five projects carried out by civil society in the eastern provinces.

Direct Support to WHO
Italian Cooperation will also directly contribute with a support of 290 thousand euros to the crisis response action launched by the World Health Organization.

Quando ho sentito che Putin aveva lanciato su Kiev il più grande attacco in 4 anni di guerra, pensavo a una strage. Invece, per fortuna, solo 4 morti e 100 feriti. Sempre troppi, certo, ma mi pare un bilancio molto modesto. Invece ho letto titoli come se ci fosse stata un’ecatombe.

Gentile lettrice, non siamo più al solito doppio standard politico. Qui siamo a una sindrome fobica acuta, una russofobia o meglio una Putinfobia che travolge ogni barriera logica. Cito un titolo tra decine: La Stampa, articolo della russa-italiana Anna Zafesova, “La furia insensata dello Zar sull’orlo di una crisi di nervi”. Qui di insensato ci sono solo i titoli come questo. Anche tralasciando che si è trattato di una rappresaglia per l’uccisione di 21 adolescenti in un dormitorio, il bilancio di sabato è la prova provata che i russi non mirano a colpire la popolazione. Se avessero voluto, con 90 missili e centinaia di droni avrebbero fatto migliaia di morti. Eppure, si continua con questo delirio della “crudeltà” di Putin, Putin rabbioso, Putin boia, Putin carnefice, ecc. Sono stereotipi completamente incoerenti con la realtà, in collisione con ogni evidenza logica. Peraltro noto che epiteti del genere non si sono mai visti sui giornali per Netanyahu e per Israele, che hanno seminato, loro sì, carneficine immani, a Gaza, in Libano, in Siria, in Iran. Di Putin direi invece quello che ho già scritto tante volte: che fa la guerra coi guanti bianchi e che per fortuna ha sangue freddo e nervi d’acciaio, sicché non si abbandona a stragi indiscriminate, altrimenti vedremmo in Ucraina gli stessi orrori di Gaza.

The Fleet Between Israel and Libya

On Sunday afternoon, ten activists from the Global Sumud Land Convoy crossed the Sirte checkpoint with two cars and an ambulance, to negotiate with the authorities of eastern Libya the restart of the convoy, which had been stalled for eight days in a neutral zone. On the other side, they were waiting for the militants of the 604th Brigade of Khalifa Haftar, with snipers and machine guns. Passports were handed over, the live stream was interrupted. From that moment on, the Italian spokesperson for the Global Sumud Flotilla, Maria Elena Delia, told ANSA, “contacts have been lost.”

Among the ten were two Italians, Domenico Centrone, 33 years old from Molfetta, and Leonarda Alberizia, from Albugnano in the province of Asti. The convoy from which they broke off counted two hundred and fifty people, seven ambulances, ten trucks, and aimed to reach Gaza through Cyrenaica and Rafah.

AGI - L'Italia ha chiesto formalmente all'Unione europea di sanzionare il ministro israeliano della Sicurezza nazionale, Itamar Ben-Gvir, in seguito agli abusi compiuti contro gli attivisti della Freedom Flotilla. L'annuncio è arrivato direttamente dal ministro degli Esteri, Antonio Tajani, che ha affidato alla piattaforma X la comunicazione della svolta diplomatica.
"A nome del governo italiano ho appena formalmente chiesto all'Alto Rappresentante Kaja Kallas di includere nella prossima discussione dei ministri degli Esteri Ue l'adozione di sanzioni contro il ministro per la Sicurezza nazionale israeliano Ben-Gvir per gli inaccettabili atti compiuti contro la Flotilla, prelevando gli attivisti in acque internazionali e sottoponendoli a vessazioni e umiliazioni, violando i più elementari diritti umani", ha scritto il titolare della Farnesina.
L'avvertimento di Tajani: "Ci saranno conseguenze"
La dura presa di posizione del governo italiano è stata ulteriormente approfondita dallo stesso Tajani in un'intervista rilasciata ad Avvenire. Il ministro ha chiarito che "ci saranno conseguenze politiche" in merito a quanto accaduto nel porto israeliano in cui erano stati condotti gli attivisti dopo essere stati fermati dalle forze di Tel Aviv.
Nel corso del colloquio con il quotidiano, Tajani ha spiegato che l'Italia condivide "in modo indignato" le parole pronunciate dal premier israeliano Benjamin Netanyahu sulla vicenda. "Abbiamo chiesto al governo israeliano di garantire l'incolumita' fisica e il rimpatrio immediato di tutti i civili fermati dalle forze israeliane", ha aggiunto il capo della diplomazia italiana.
Sempre nell'intervista, Tajani ha sottolineato come "Netanyahu abbia preso parzialmente le distanze da Ben Gvir", ribadendo che, sebbene "Israele debba difendere i suoi cittadini", l'auspicio dell'Italia è che il prossimo esecutivo di Tel Aviv "tenga conto piu' di quanto e' avvenuto nel passato recente e della necessita' di evitare abusi, provocazioni, violenze contro la popolazione civile palestinese a Gaza, come in Cisgiordania".

Always in the interview, Tajani emphasized that “Netanyahu has taken partial distance from Ben Gvir,” reiterating that while “Israel must defend its citizens,” Italy hopes that the next government of Tel Aviv “will take into account more than what has happened in recent times and the need to avoid abuses, provocations, violence against the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza, as in the West Bank.”

E Carlo Sommacal, padre della 23enne, morta in quelle grotte insieme alla madre Monica Montefalcone, docente del dipartimento di Scienze della Terra dell’Università di Genova e moglie di Carlo, al Corriere ha provato a raccontare il dolore di queste ore: “Stamattina mi ha chiamato la Farnesina: hanno recuperato anche il corpo della mia Giorgia. Adesso le hanno ritrovate entrambe. Ma io continuo a parlarne al presente, perché ancora non riesco a realizzare che non ci siano più”.
Quello che spera Carlo Sommacal è di evitare il riconoscimento diretto dei corpi: “Ho paura di non avere la forza. Temo che mi possa venire un infarto davanti a loro e che Matteo (il figlio minore, ndr) possa restare solo al mondo”. Per questo ha inviato fotografie e indicato dettagli utili all’identificazione: “Ho mandato le foto di Giorgia, ho fornito alcuni suoi particolari fisici.
