Israeli airline Arkia, the second largest airline in Israel, has decided to move a large part of its operations to airports in Aqaba, Jordan, and Taba, Egypt, due to new restrictions on traffic at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
The new restrictions allow only one incoming and outgoing flight per hour, with a maximum of 50 passengers per departing flight, making it extremely difficult to maintain regular air services from Israel.
The move includes long-haul flights such as New York, Bangkok, and Hanoi, while some regional flights, including Larnaca and Athens, will continue under the current restrictions at Ben Gurion.
