La passeggera francese ricoverata in terapia intensiva dopo essere sbarcata dalla nave Hondius e trasferita a Parigi dove è risultata positiva all’hantavirus, è attualmente in condizioni critiche. I suoi sintomi, ha rivelato in un’esclusiva il The Guardian, sono stati scambiati inizialmente per ansia e stress ma in realtà erano i primi segnali dell’hantavirus.
Il The Guardian ha citato il segretario di Stato della Salute spagnolo Javier Padilla: “Non pensavano che quei sintomi fossero compatibili con l’hantavirus – ha detto il viceministro – aveva avuto un episodio di tosse nei giorni precedenti, già scomparso, e in quel momento manifestava soprattutto stress, ansia e nervosismo”.
Secondo quanto spiegato da Padilla, l’errore di valutazione è riconducibile alla mancanza, a bordo della nave, di test di Pcr rapidi per l’hantavirus: una condizione che non è stato possibile aggirare nemmeno con l’invio dei campioni di analisi a Madrid, in un laboratorio specializzato. Questa procedura infatti avrebbe richiesto circa 24 ore, troppe per poter rallentare le operazioni di evacuazione dei passeggeri entro lunedì sera, momento in cui erano erano previste forti tempeste nell’Atlantico.
Ed è stato proprio a causa dei venti forti che la nave è stata costretta ad attraccare nel porto di Granadilla, dopo essere rimasta in rada dall’alba di domenica: situazione – anch’essa – che il presidente delle Canarie Fernando Clavijo aveva inizialmente escluso.
Intanto ora c’è una forte preoccupazione da parte delle autorità sanitarie: la paziente francese ha avuto un rapido peggioramento e, come dichiarato dall’Oms, è in condizioni molto gravi.

The French passenger admitted to intensive care after disembarking from the Hondius ship and transferred to Paris, where she tested positive for hantavirus, is currently in critical condition. Her symptoms, revealed in an exclusive by The Guardian, were initially mistaken for anxiety and stress but were actually the first signs of hantavirus.

The Guardian quoted Spanish Health Secretary Javier Padilla: “They didn’t think those symptoms were compatible with hantavirus – the deputy minister said – she had had a coughing episode in the previous days, which had already disappeared, and at that time she was mainly manifesting stress, anxiety and nervousness.”

According to Padilla, the misjudgment was due to the lack of rapid PCR tests for hantavirus on board the ship – a condition that could not be circumvented even with sending samples for analysis to Madrid, to a specialized laboratory. This procedure would have required about 24 hours, too long to slow down the operations of passenger evacuation by Monday evening, when strong storms were expected in the Atlantic.

And it was precisely due to the strong winds that the ship was forced to dock at the port of Granadilla, after having remained in port since dawn on Sunday – a situation – also – that Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo had initially ruled out.

Meanwhile, health authorities are expressing serious concern: the French patient has had a rapid deterioration and, as stated by the WHO, she is in very serious condition.

Diese journalistische Hymne ist durchaus fachgerecht. Weil ich ihr vollständig zustimme, möchte ich jedoch eine Kritik ergänzen. Denn dieser beste und schönste Fussball der Welt ist dennoch im Viertelfinale der Champions League ausgeschieden – gegen die zweitbeste Mannschaft aus Madrid. Weil der dienstälteste Spitzentrainer Europas, der Argentinier Diego Simeone, ihn entschlüsselt hat. Die Gesamtbilanz gegen diesen Gegner ist bescheiden. Bei Barca-Fans ist er zurecht verhasst, weil er ein Zerstörer der Schönheit ist.

Warum ihm dieses Teufelswerk gelingt, und in der Vorsaison im Halbfinale schon Inter Mailand gelang (in zwei Partien, die in die Lehrbücher des besten Fussballs der Welt gehören; unmittelbar danach erlitt ich meinen Herzinfarkt), ist im Spiel einfach zu erkennen. Die Abwehrreihe von Flicks Barca-Fussball steht so hoch, dass sie für erstklassige Konter immer überwindbar ist. Wenn es in 90-95% der Fälle Abseits ist, bleiben 5-10%, die zum Gegentor führen können. Und es oft auch tun. Das wusste schon Hennes Weisweiler 1965, weswegen er 1969 Sieloff und Müller (“Luggi”) nach Mönchengladbach holte.

Entweder Flick lernt von Weisweiler, oder sein Team bleibt immer nur eine der besten Mannschaften der Welt. Aber die Schönste.

AGI - Ammette la sconfitta, se ne assume la responsabilità, ma non intende lasciare Keir Starmer, dopo la batosta elettorale di giovedì alle elezioni locali. Anzi, il suo programma è di portare finalmente quel cambiamento che aveva promesso alle politiche due anni fa. "Questi sono stati risultati elettorali molto duri", ha scritto il premier in un articolo sul Guardian. "Fa male perdere candidati e leader locali brillanti, amici e colleghi che rappresentano il meglio del partito laburista. Me ne assumo la responsabilità e mi dispiace profondamente", ha spiegato. Ora, ha proseguito, "è giusto che riflettiamo e impariamo la lezione".
Per anni, ha ricordato, "gli elettori sono stati profondamente frustrati dallo status quo e sperato costantemente che le cose andassero meglio e che la politica portasse un vero cambiamento nelle loro vite". Così non è stato, che si parli di costo della vita, di sicurezza o di opportunità.
Il compito del Labour
"Il Labour non dovrebbe voltare le spalle a nessuno di loro. Al contrario, il nostro compito è convincerli che abbiamo risposte progressiste ai problemi e alle sfide che devono affrontare", ha sottolineato. Finora "abbiamo commesso errori inutili" e "non abbiamo fatto abbastanza per convincerli che la loro vita può migliorare".
Rispondere al messaggio degli elettori "non significa spostarsi a destra o a sinistra. Significa riunire un ampio movimento politico, essere assertivi sui nostri valori, audaci nella nostra visione e affrontare le richieste delle persone. Unire piuttosto che dividere".
Dunque "questa volta le cose saranno diverse. Dobbiamo rompere con lo status quo una volta per tutte e costruire un paese più forte e più giusto. La lezione giusta è ascoltare gli elettori. Rappresentare la maggioranza che vuole un governo che affronti le grandi sfide con risposte reali. Perchè è allora che il partito laburista è al suo meglio. Ed è così conseguiremo il cambiamento di cui le persone sono alla disperata ricerca".

The Labour Party admits defeat, takes responsibility, but does not intend to oust Keir Starmer following Thursday’s local elections.
