Our recent work : a biobank-scale study on 835 diverse #metabolomics datasets. We showed that very sparse machine-learning models can be as informative as complex ones. We suggest to include sparse models as a first step in the analysis of a new dataset. Paper : https://pubs-acs-org.acces.bibl.ulaval.ca/doi/10.1021/acs.analchem.5c01049. In our #metabolomics work we frequently had the problem of inferring standardized metabolite names (from non-standard ones). Katja and Willson have developed a system prompt for Llama 3.3 to solve this problem:

Please find our new paper in Molecular Ecology:
Omics to Study and Manage Aquatic Environments: A Snapshot From the AquaEcOmics Meeting (Evian-les-Bains, 2025). https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/mec.70041

A good summary of the keynotes/talks/posters given during the meeting, this will give us ideas for the future!

😀
Curious about stakeholder driven research. Does this mean depending on who the stakeholders are is how the research is directed ?
I know nothing about these things honestly. Yet if certain stakeholders leave ,will that not also affect the research they so desired ?

Thank you. I’ll check it out further. 😎

@Peace Haa ! interesting remark. When refering to stakeholders in the paper, we refer mostly to water managers, e.g. people taking care of lakes, rivers etc ... These people need tools to understand the ecosystem they are taking care, among these tools, omics are interesting because they provide really new information of ecosystem functionning. And so several reaserch teams are working with these people in close collaboration = stakeholder driven research
@Peace stakeholder driven research in the sense they have needs (e.g. detection of particular species, or evaluation of particular pressures), that are sometimes not in the priorities of basic science 😉

@rimetfrederic
Thank You for the feedback. I sensed something like what you wrote is part of the picture haha. Curious stuff.
