Why Europe should strive to increase its clinical trials

Clinical trials are essential in bringing new, improved treatment options to patients. They support our hospitals, bringing new infrastructure and skills, and anchor research in Europe.

AI models aren’t yet general-purpose alignment scientists. Progress isn't as easy to verify on most alignment research tasks: our AARs would find “fuzzier” research much harder. But our experiment does show that Claude can increase the rate of experimentation and exploration.

New Anthropic Fellows research: developing an Automated Alignment Researcher. We ran an experiment to learn whether Claude Opus 4.6 could accelerate research on a key alignment problem: using a weak AI model to supervise the training of a stronger one. https://t.co/OAxCjOiWTm

How interesting that most senior managers say using AI makes them way more efficient, while those who do the intellectual work say using AI to generate drafts generates reams of fatuous slop that needs to be extensively rewritten & saves no labour time at all.

Is this because senior managers are using AI mostly to draw on quality information produced by workers?

Or because for senior managers (& politicians!), AI works because talking in verbose, content-less management speak - that can never be factually or analytically challenged bc it is invariably ambiguous, always plausibly deniable & often makes no sense at all - is what they are paid to do. It is actually THE JOB.

I’ll love to see an empirical study that tests this 😎.

If you know of one, please tell!!

Bosses say AI boosts productivity – workers say they’re drowning in ‘workslop’

Workslop refers to AI-generated work that seems polished but is flawed and in need of heavy corrections
