Salty, Oily Drinking Water Left Sores in Their Mouths. Oklahoma Refused to Find Out Why.

State regulators discovered strong signs of oil pollution, including high levels of salt and toxic metals, in one family’s drinking water. But for two years, they repeatedly delayed basic tests to find the culprit — then closed the case.

To enrich a few while harming the rest of us

"Rollback of government’s ability to limit climate-heating pollution from vehicles will make families ‘sicker and less safe’..Trump’s EPA repeals landmark climate finding in gift to ‘billionaire polluters’."

"Repealing the Endangerment Finding takes Orwellian governance to new heights and invites enormous damage to people and property around the world."

"The final rule removes the government’s ability to impose requirements to track, report and limit climate-heating pollution from cars and trucks. Transportation is the largest source of climate pollution in the US."

“If this reckless decision survives legal challenges, it will lead to more deadly wildfires, more extreme heat deaths, more climate-driven floods and droughts, and greater threats to communities nationwide – all while the EPA dismisses the overwhelming science that has protected public health for decades.'

How Resource Extraction and Infrastructure Projects Are Driving the Climate Crisis in the Amazon | Heinrich Böll Stiftung

In early 2026, several thousand liters of drilling fluid leaked during a test drilling operation in the Amazon Mouth Basin. The project to extract oil off the coasts of Amapá and Pará is symbolic of Brazil's resource-driven development model, which continues to rely on large-scale agricultural, energy, and infrastructure projects.

The authors find that research on freshwater ecosystem engineers (animals, plants and insects) has lagged behind comparable work in terrestrial ecosystems. Existing studies focus far more on hydrological extremes such as flooding than on temperature-driven pressures and drought, despite these becoming increasingly severe under climate change

Freshwater ecosystems could play a critical role in climate resilience

A major new international review co-authored by Professor Gemma Harvey, Professor of Physical Geography in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at Queen Mary University of London, highlights how species that physically modify freshwater environments interact with climate change, and why understanding these processes is becoming increasingly important.

Does concern about climate change influence meat choices? New U.S. survey suggests it does

A nationally representative U.S. survey found that about 12% of adults self-report not eating red meat, with higher prevalence among women, older adults, college-educated individuals, and certain minority groups. Reporting climate change and environmental issues as a top national concern was independently associated with a greater likelihood of reporting no red meat consumption.
