I came across this Hoary bat today, at the end of my hike. It was flipped on its back, shivering on the cold & wet pavement.
I carefully flipped it over as it hissed at me like a cat and bared its cute little fangies.
Then it took a few steps and flew off like a little air force hedgehog. #hiking

Have any #Linux users tried this? It's called Swiss File Knife, and is a #FOSS utility available via Sourceforge.
It contains 100 command line utilities of various types.
It downloads to Linux as a single binary and is pretty easy to run and use so far.
Kind of fascinating, too, that it's cross-platform...
I haven't used it much but I'm wondering if it might be simpler than some similar Linux utilities.

Within this single mathematical expression, the researchers finally found every shape and pattern known; from geography to psychology and astronomy.
A week later, they were even able to predict the future in limited circumstances.
However, only a month after that, the future was no longer interesting, because they realized they could see clearly into every aspect of the past.

Useful things in #Linux lately: apt-clone, #emacs & #elisp, #rakulang, #smallbasic (github version), silver searcher (ag), htop, pal calendar, #gimp, #kolourpaint, #vlc, #doublecommander, #gambas3, #geany, and distros like #manjaro, #pclos, #almalinux, #kubuntu, and #q4os
Pictured: An old photo of my #UbuntuStudio desktop from 2009, watching "The Cat From Outer Space".
The same system ran WinXP and Win 7 inside of VMs, allowing use of Adobe software and other Windows apps.
At the time I had been using Linux full-time at my business for about 4-5 years.
Soon I would take a Linux netbook with me for working abroad (running Ubuntu's netbook distro), along with a Nokia n810 as media station. The years 2009-2012 were, in my work, the second big wave of Linux on the Desktop. It was extremely fun and I'm still trying to recapture some of the enjoyment of those days, which faded a bit with the rise of the cloud.
(Diet / Weight Loss) One method that reliably helps me out on caloric deficits (cutting weight) is to work against the rational mindset.
On my first big cut, losing over 36% of my weight back in 2016-ish, boxes of candy bars were practically a secret weapon.
Why? "Harnessing the perverse motivations of the shadow personality" is my best guess.
Or, appeasing the inner child during bouts of stoicism, maybe. But it works for me.
This box of $0.54 Kit-Kat Duos I found on clearance (non-expired!) is my go-to for this week's mini-cut.
For the balance of the day I do eat pretty healthy...mostly...🤔
I really sympathize with anyone trying to lose weight, even if just a little bit. It remains a maze of twisty passage-options, opinions, and philosophies.
