The only thing I built from discrete components is this sketchy adapter from the #Amiga 1000 keyboard cable (which is really just a phone headset cable) to the A500 keyboard header.

You can connect KBDATA, KBCLK, 5V and GND directly to the A500, but there's no wire for KBRESET.

When you hit CTRL-Amiga-Amiga on an external keyboard, it holds KBCLK down for 500ms to signal reset. So I built a simple RC timer which detects it and triggers a reset.

My A500 borrowed an A1000 keyboard while waiting for the https://a1200.net one.

It also has a PiStorm Classic, but it doesn't play well with the A590 and any expansion that tries to do DMA. I'm working on a CPLD patch to emulate the #m68k bus granting protocol.

@starsk Just yesterday I was showing off this hardware at the Ome Microcomputer Museum (マイコン博物館), and two engineers asked me why the #Amiga became such a cult 😆

They're not wrong, but it was much worse when #Commodore was still alive: the Amiga fanboys (me included) used to get into Amiga supremacy arguments against Atari users, Windows users, Mac users... you name it.

Now they only fight among each other about classic Amiga vs PPC vs FPGA vs UAE vs AROS... holy wars ⚔️

Looks like installing all the key caps into the keyboard backplane will take some time...

Which way do the stabilizer bars go in?

Luckily @janbeta already went over it and made a video about it. I guess I'll watch it first 👍

Well, *partially* delivered: I'm still missing a key component, the A500 keyboard controller.

The a1200.net crew is redesigning custom light guides for the power & disk LEDs which will look as close as possible to the originals made by Commodore.

Now I see why the product picture on the shop didn't have any LEDs mounted :-)
