A putto blowing soap bubbles, sitting on a type case full of type, and the letters in the bubbles read as: VANITAS (vanity).

A beautiful reflection of human writing and publishing. This detail, printed in 1751 in a German speaking newspaper, is a beautiful reflection about publishing and media impact in general. Our words and news may be read, and do have sometimes a social impact, but most of our media and words will be gone tomorrow. So write today, #writingcommunity.

editing

Do I edit while I write? No, I write while I write.

Yes

I constantly check my own style guide and OED esp for spelling and grammar

Eases the checking later

but has proven to be wasted time when whole chunks and chapters are eliminated anyway!

Quoting Judd Apato, Angela Duckworth in "Grit" (see alt text for more)

In the end, I pulled 4 clunky chapters out of #SlenderWolf losing 7 cherished characters in the process!
