Do you ever just really need a nap?

@jerry

Only between 05:15h and 18:30h when I'm at work 😴

@jerry

When I get home at 18:45 and the cat climbs onto my lap then we both have a nap.

Generally while watching something fascinating on YouTube πŸ˜„

@jerry most of the time
@jerry yes. however as a rule I can't. if I ever do nap, it's usually because I am pretty sick. I'd rather just nap.
@jerry Ones that spans over an extended period of time, e.g. months or years, but never managed to get to it.
@jerry all the time, except when I'm sleeping

@jerry Naps are the best!

We are old.

@hal_pomeranz @jerry

Can confirm, naps are the best.

Source: just woke up from one.

@jerry
Several times a day. They don't help much.
@jerry Yes, and I thought retirement would give me more time for that. It did not work out that way so far.
@jerry about every 4 hours
@jerry I just heard a brief story on Marketplace about people taking β€œsleepcations.” They take a weekend and go somewhere. Not someplace nice or fancy or expensive. Maybe not even far. Just away. And they spend the whole weekend in a hotel sleeping. Maybe treat themselves to a room service breakfast, but mostly just get a hotel room and sleep a lot.
@paco that's not a bad idea, but not sure who can afford that any more. I'll just go up to what used to be my kids' rooms and sleep there.

@jerry @paco

We need more Japanese style capsule hotels which are inexpensive and just for sleeping in quite comfortable surroundings 😌

@simonzerafa @paco maybe some day for me. I have an elderly dog, so sleep (and anything else) comes in blocks of about 2 hours. I was out playing in the yard with her at 2:30am last night because she couldn't sleep and decided that was everyone's problem.

@jerry @paco

Rosa the cat has that issue but mostly because her cat flu makes breathing something of an effort some days.

She comes to sleep on me or accept fuss before settling down.

@paco @jerry Sounds like our first weekend away from our son when he was about 6 months old…
@jerry Since I'm only getting 5-6 hours of sleep at night, yes. Daily.
@mvilain yeah. 4-5 hours here. that's exactly where I'm at
@jerry most evenings I end up taking a semi-intentional 15-45 minute nap when I put kiddo to sleep. Not sure how I’d manage without those.
@jerry I can honestly say that there are times when I DON’T need a nap…
@jerry I used to, everyday around 2pm. Then I got my iron levels tested and one iron infusion later…no more afternoon slump!

@jerry I just took an 8min nap, inspired by the cat sleeping on my lap grabbing my leg like a teddy bear and sighing. πŸ₯Ή
@jerry As the kids say, that's a load bearing just.
@jerry Very yes
@catsalad @jerry What separates animals from plants, according to Aristotle, is that plants do not need naps.
@jerry I could die for a nap...
@jerry it's 2026. I feel tired after every bit of news that reaches me. I feel tired thinking about what already happened this year.

@jerry

Time is not a illusion; nap time doubly so.

@jerry Sleep is one of the most spiritual things you can do for yourself.
@jerry recently lots, but my doc thinks i can get my diabetes under control.

@jerry nearly every day.

In the bath.

Long naps.

Typically from around 03:00 to 07:45. Sleeping in the bath might be a truer description.

Waking only to let out a little cold water, top up with hot, and rearrange the towels on top of me. I can do this whilst barely conscious.

Ultimately, it's meditation.

@jerry Biological nativism beats the machines. Sleep is good. I got extra sleep over the last 24h.

@jerry

Every day, sir. Every day.

@jerry
I do it every day, and sometimes several times. Today's session was 3 hours.
