It’s incredible to me how direct and obvious these personal attacks on Zack Polanski have become the closer we get to the local elections in the uk. Even The Guatdian. He must be getting somewhere.

@daisy BIG SAME. It's worse when they respond back with some LLM message challenging you. - Or my favorite, we had a contractor tell me point blank they didn't use AI...

I've been trying to figure out a good way to handle this at our company. But so far it seems whatever guidelines I put in place are either fed right into their prompt or just ignored. No one seems to understand the code they're pushing off to a reviewer either.

Genuinely one of the worst things for me about the vibe coding apocalypse is that it is steadily eroding my patience in code review.

It used to be that if you identified issues with someone’s code, you could explain why, and help your coworker learn and grow as a professional. And sometimes they’d respond by explaining why they did it that way, and then you get to learn and grow as well.

Now a lot of the time when I do code review, I feel like I’m not actually investing my time in learning, just giving them something to copy paste into an AI chatbot without engaging with either the code or the feedback.

Just to be clear: The reason I’m ok with dunking on Richard Dawkins for falling in love with a website is because he’s an arrogant know-it-all, a transphobe, and a generally intolerant bigot.

People who fall into #AI psychosis (I’m not even sure that’s an accurate term) need help. They may be susceptible to hallucinatory or conspiratorial thinking because of some mental health predisposition, or suffer from blind spots thanks to their upbringing. We should not be deriding people who fall into trillion-dollar traps.

But we *should* point and laugh when a bigot publicly owns himself. It’s really funny.

It has been 0️⃣ days since esteemed senior colleague has said "I asked ChatGPT and it told me it would be better if we did this" and I was forced to reply with a list of examples of why it was talking out of its arse 🙃
People think of the ocean as an amorphous mass, but it is also a great sorter of objects, particularly the plastic floatsome New York City‘s little contribution to the many oceanic garbage patches. From my kayak I have seen some very strange things. There is, for example a beach on an uninhabited island just north of the city that is completely covered in plastic tampon applicators. Something about the motion of the waters has all sorted them to this 16 m wide space. 1/

NPR radio saying "AI is sometimes biased" ...

AI IS ALWAYS BIASED THAT IS HOW THE TECH WORKS.

People are not rational anymore.
Like normal people are not rational.
I blame smart phones.
And AI is just a sympton of what happens when
you willingly give over your cognitive agency
to a think outside of yourself.
(unless it is like you family elders or something)

I guess at the minimun do not give your cognitive
agency to institutions where they will want to
use it for control (including politics by way
of media which is their voice)
