Whelp, time to dnf versionlock rsync for Claude breaking a feature I actually use. https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@JeremiahFieldhaven/116654345332213390
Jeremiah Fieldhaven (@[email protected])

So my systems recently updated to rsync 3.4.3, and as soon as that happened my backup system - which does incremental backups using multiple --compare-dest= arguments - started to fail on anything but a full backup. Revert to 3.4.1 and it works. So I go look at the source in GitHub to see what might have changed, because there doesn't seem to be anything relevant in the changelog. Since 3.4.1, 36 commits by "tridge and claude" Oh for fuck's sakes.

@JeremiahFieldhaven the amount of crap that’s broken after 3.4.1 is just wow :)

*gently grabs the cheeks of all programmers to stare deeply into their eyes*

All I want is a dry tech manual. A boring, well indexed manual that defines every function. Not a chatbot. Not a training. Not a million "articles" that I have to search through. Not a "community forum".

My rice cooker came with one. I want one for every piece of software I have to interact with.

Go get yourself a technical writer if necessary.

I. Want. An. Instructional. Manual.

Years ago there was a chat client, executable you downloaded for windows/mac. There was also a web version, that I didn't really use much.

The chat client let you rename yourself (think like /nick on IRC or Discord).

So of course I renamed myself to Richard <script>alert('XSS!');</script> Harman.

Now we can't rename ourselves any more.

Perfection.
Now using this as my meeting virtual background. I am a now 5x engineer. Actually wearing the same shirt in a meeting right now, it's epic.

so uh, Micorsoft realizes they just declared war with Nightmare-Eclispse, right? They accepted the risk?

Caught Copilot talking to itself

You’re right to call this out. The failing go test ./coolCode output indicates the....

I didn't say anything.. just watched it catch it and fix it.

/me imagines GoLLM and Smeagol talking back and forth..

GoLLM: It asks us to refactors the packages... filthy humans..never with the pleases... never with the thankses...

Smeagol: He does say "please" sometimes...

GoLLM: Nevers! always calling us Clanker... We hates it.. We hates it and its filthy askses..

....okay one more.

This one hurts my soul but still makes me laugh.
