I still sometimes look at my Facebook memories (honestly not having taken the time to download them yet is part of what keeps me from deleting my account). Today there was this one, which is clearly from pre-pandemic -
"Here's a casual reminder that I'm deaf in my left ear, which means that all sounds come into my right ear at basically the same volume. So if your party has loud music, fans running, and/or lots of conversations all around in a tight space, and it's supposed to be a conversational party, it might not be fun for me and I might just choose not to come.
Also, I have chronic headaches and mostly play it off like I don't, so don't shout at me, please.
Edit to add - I also have anxiety. As you might imagine, a noisy space where I can't tell where sounds are coming from or if something might be sneaking up on me (even in a friendly "hey! I'm glad you're here and I found you!" kind of way), is pretty overwhelming.
Intentional quiet gathering space is very appreciated. Please don't think I'm being a jerk."
