Recently I've finished reading "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi and that was one of the most relatable readings in my entire life.

"Persepolis" is a biographical graphic novel about a girl who grows in Iran during late shah/early islamic republic era. She becomes a witness to the revolution and the Iran-Iraq war. Than she's sent by her parents to Europe to live by herself, but can't stand loneliness and detachment which comes with that. And at the same time she's just a child/a teenage girl who loves Western pop culture and does usual child/teenage girl things.

Satrapi describes reality where it is necessary to hide your true identity in public if you want to live. Oh boy I know that feeling living in Russia. Reading the novel brought me some inner peace because now I at least know I am not alone who feels like that.

10/10 can't recommend enough if you live under authoritarian or totalitarian regime.
