Another day in the #garden and it's a rainy one today. Before the storm rolled in, I saw that the top layer of soil was becoming pretty dry, likely from clearing out the area of roots that were holding the soil in place and the strong winds. The solution thus far has been adding mulch over top. A lovely spruce tree nearby provided plentiful.
The seeds have also been sown, including some overgrown pantry potatoes. The choices were french breakfast radishes, cherry belle radishes, onions, and the potatoes of previous mention, which were cut into sections around the eyes where roots were sprouting out as shown in the pictures. I read that some shade can be a potato plant's best friend, so there they went.
Thinking back to the spruce tree, my newly found comrade in #gardening, I saw that it was looking a little...sad. Low and behold, a wild cherry tree sucker was sapping away its nutrients
You know what I had to do. With that deliquent of a plant taken care of, hopefully Sprucy's foliage will return to the green of its glory days.
