I have a problem, our fireplace appears to be very slowly sinking away from the house. At the base of the fireplace everything lines up but at six feet the bricks have moved away from the house by around an inch. This has taken over twenty years but I'm concerned that I'm noticing it more so it may be moving faster. We don't use the fireplace for fire, I've sealed off the chimney and we have an electric heater in there for when it gets cold so it's not a fire hazard.

My question to you folks is; who do I call? If the base of the brickwork is sinking then who and how can it be returned to being upright?

Any ideas?
