interesting comment from Dr Younger:

"Thanks for bringing up that issue! There has been a ton of misinformation on "regular" prescription naltrexone, even among experts. If you look it up on Google, it will tell you that naltrexone is a racemic mixture of l- and d- forms. Any many, if not most, papers do the same. They are all wrong. If you pull up the CoA for manufactured naltrexone, you will see it has a -192 degree optical rotation. All commercial naltrexone is levo only. Levo hits both opioid and TLR4 receptors (among other things), while dextro only hits the TLR4 receptor. I don't know how to fix the misinformation online because now AI is pulling its info from incorrect sources. So it is almost impossible to get to the right source unless someone already knows what they are doing (e.g., accessing the manufacturer CoA's). - Jarred Younger"

From the link in the post above:

Spent a week in bed after this day trip.

This was me last weekend, at a tiny zoo/zoology museum nearby, and a nearby hill. (Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill) Went with my parents (I haven't drove a vehicle in a year now). Spent around a week mostly in bed after. Only today did I somewhat recover my energy. I used to be a nature photographer, so I'm not used to being housebound for so long. I can go on these short day trips around 1-2 times a month to relieve some claustrophobia, and the cost is a pretty heavy crash after. LDN helped me somewhat, so I was up to around 2-3 of these trips a month and crashes are a bit more cushioned. This particular crash was one of the worst in several months, most likely because I'm trying a lower dose of #Naltrexone.

Hey if you need a compounding pharmacy these people are 5 stars. (They’re in Waltham, Massachusetts but they ship for free.)

I’m OK with this price increase this year. I can live with this. It may go up again but I thought it would be so much worse.

(This is 90 count of 0.5 mg #LDN with the standard avicel filler. If you’re buying a more popular dose it may cost less, if you prefer a different filler like ginger it may cost more.

@FandaSin @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ the thing is not everything we get from #China is garbage.

For example, the only medication that has ever helped my #MECFS is LDN. And the only way I can get LDN is from Compounding pharmacies who buy the naltrexone powder from China.

The United States has been getting naltrexone from China since at least the 80s. My neurologist said his #MS patients used to have to order it themselves so in 2020 he was delighted to hear all the compounders have it now.

The US has never tried to be a supplier of #naltrexone because there’s no $ to be made with an old generic med.

I couldn’t stock up on it because it gets stale and doesn’t work as well. I buy 90 days at a time but I usually toss the last week or two because they don’t work anymore, and even doing that it’s still more affordable than buying only 60 days at a time.

I’m not accusing you of being racist at all, I’m just saying it’s kind of racist to assume that everything we get out of China is just garbage nobody needs.

If I can’t get #LDN I might have to go back to being bedbound after having a bit of a life for the past five years.

And I’m not sure I will just quietly fall by the wayside. I might need to end up on the news so people understand that disabled people with nothing left to lose aren’t going to just shut up and go die quietly. (I’m being hyperbolic, sort of. I would never hurt other people to make a point, but if I have to check out people are going to hear about it.)

This makes me so sad. This is from the Covid long hauler Reddit sub, and this makes me so sad.

I’ve taken breaks from taking LDN (for #MECFS from mono) when I have had to take lots of opioid pain medication and I don’t want to deal with interactions. So far it has never set me back except for on the days I don’t take it.

The compounding pharmacies have been buying the #naltrexone powder from #China since at least the 80s. If they can’t get it, we can’t get LDN.

And I can’t take the medication this person is taking, #Wellbutrin makes me feel like I’m going to crawl out of my skin, and if I take more than 0.5 mg naltrexone I will give myself opioid withdrawals because I take pain medication from pain management.

#FML is right. This is the only medication I have ever taken that actually helps my chronic ill illness. Adderall can help me push through if I have to do something I can’t do, but I wouldn’t call that exactly helpful.

#LDN is the only treatment I have found for MECFS that helps me and I think we’re all going to run into problems pretty quickly.

KUD is a poorly described condition that may become more prevalent as US ketamine use increases. Combining treatment of depressive symptoms and cravings, in this case with lamotrigine and naltrexone, may be a promising pharmacotherapeutic strategy.
