This is retro and fun.

I remember choosing my first computer (AMD 486) because it had a 14400k modem. Started out on America Online and BBS, and later had an actual local ISP for real internet access.

Just trouble-shooting my own stuff, I became very familiar with modem commands and protocols for telephone, fax, etc. A year later I was in Korea, figuring out Slackware Linux.

Jeff Geerling's channel is one worth watching on YT, IMHO.

@Lorraine Thirty years ago, when modems were still connected via telephone lines, some friends of mine had a #parrot named USRobotics, and he loved to imitate the sounds the #modem made when connecting to the #internet))

Attal souhaite pouvoir réunir une forme de comité de liaison avec Renaissance, Horizons, le MoDem, pour « réfléchir ensemble et regarder, étudier les conditions d’un rassemblement » en vue de l’élection présidentielle de 2027. Bonne idée et on appellerait ça le bloc central? Au moins, ça l’occupe…
