I learned in fedi-posts/toots that yesterday/today [timezone crap] is apparently the annual Trans Day of Remembrance. I didn't know that, i didn't know there was such a thing [maybe it's a Merkan thing?]. Other times i read that it's annual Pride Day again, but similarly [though in this case yes i have heard of it] i never know it's coming, til i begin reading of it again. I live under my rock, keeping myself alone at home, participating in no LGBTQI community of any kind, not being activist in any way, just trying to be motivated enough to bother getting outta bed each morning. I wonder if more trans peeps are public & active, or solitary & inactive like me. I admire those with the courage, determination, fortitude, & self-confidence. I know how to spell those words, but that's all. Onya, fellow trans peeps. 🤗 💜

I had the germ of an idea to possibly contemplate the merest hint of a vague suggestion of a nascent thought to potentially cogitate the implausible eventuality of looking at #Misskey. To my huge shock, almost disbelief, & certainly disgust, i next found their own instance info https://about.quietplace.xyz/rules.html, in which:

• the top half appears to be in Russian! 😲 🤯
• the bottom half is English, but contains:

It is forbidden Propaganda of LGBT culture.

I honestly don't know, it's a matter of frequent self-debate & contemplation. I want Oz to have strong vibrant viable non-RWNJ non-sociopathic media, but perversely i do not like the direct user-pays model [& i abhor advertising], fervently believing instead that media should be generically funded by general tax revenue allocated for such purpose, as a national good. However i also know that's something way beyond my, or your, personal capability to achieve.

On any final remarks:

I realise my responses will be discouraging for you, & i'm sorry about that. Pls know this though. I think Crikey is great, & i know that financial survival is an essential concern for you. Most of my negativity you might correctly discern from my survey responses are, tbh, nothing to do with Crikey, & everything to do with my abject depression & sense of irrevocable doom given the climate crisis & biodiversity extinction calamity, as well as rising racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny... yet voters here & OS keep electing fucking RWNJs instead. My overwhelming sense of our existential peril is such that i now feel that almost everything else is a trivial distraction of little consequence. Cheery, eh?

Just took a break from my pooter to heave my corpulent meatsack self to my ensuite to belatedly brush my teeth after brekkie. Stooped over my handbasin, doing the doings, i realised that parts of my face were being randomly splashed, so i returned my mind from zooming along the astral plane to consider what might be happening.

Realised that i'd forgotten to turn the cold tap fully off as i began brushing, that the combo of its consequent partial valve opening, the cooler than usual day, & the local water pressure today had combined to make the resultant waterflow's #ReynoldsNumber fully turbulent, not laminar. Furthermore, the ensuing randomness of its flow in this mode was such that often it was striking the basin drain grate grills rather than falling cleanly thru the gaps, & was rebounding aka splashing. Finally, my stoop was sufficient that my face happened to be in just the right range to intersect with this mild local splashing.

These contemplative revelations pleased me. It was a nice little low-key local demonstration that no matter the pomposity, arrogance, & suicidal determination of the ridiculous human species, the principles of #physics, #thermodynamics, #fluidmechanics, & #chaostheory will always prevail.

But i expect such thoughts regularly cross the minds of most peeps as they do their routine ablutions... 🤷‍♀️ 🤭 😜

The bill includes provisions to give transgender people in NSW the right to update their birth certificate without undergoing gender-affirming surgery

Mr Greenwich reiterated that every other state and territory has allowed transgender people to update their birth certificate "without removing a sex organ".

JFC Alex, you say that like it's a good thing. Instead, it's bloody ridiculous! I make no comment wrt #FtM, as i'm unqualified & sans-experience, so my opinion pertains only to #MtF #transitions.

The pandemic came and went and it shone a light on a split most people probably hadn’t thought about all that much before then. Everyone knew there were introverts and extroverts, homebodies and socialites, but it had never really mattered. The two groups complemented each other and managed to peacefully cohabit.

This ended both when the world went into lockdown and when it came out of it. Suddenly those seemingly mundane differences began to define us. Some people thrived while stuck at home and others fell into pits of despair. When restrictions eased, some people leapt out of their houses as quickly as they could, and others secretly wished it could have lasted a bit longer.

Yeah well, two points:

• the effen pandemic never "went", ffs. Numerous peeps still contract #Covid19 & die from it.
• i began self-isolating ~a decade & a half before the pandemic began. For me, those years were simply just another day at home.

Living a real, physical life outside the home is good because humans need friction. Convenience is alluring but it is dangerous, because getting used to it means forgetting that being alive isn’t meant to always be easy.
