Early Earth was hit by asteroids like a cosmic pinball, and new research suggests those impacts might have been life’s first spark. The collisions created long-lasting hydrothermal systems—warm, wet, and rich in chemicals—perfect for jumpstarting biology. If life could begin in the aftermath of destruction, it might be hiding in similar spots across the solar system right now. Maybe we should thank the meteorites for showing up. 🌋

Astronomers have come up with a new theory about the black hole that sits at the centre of the Milky Way. Instead of it being a black hole they are suggesting it is a dense clump of dark matter. This they argue is why there is both rapid motions stars at the centre and large scale rotation of our Galaxy. Known as Sagittarius A* it is 4 million times larger than our sun. Due to its denseness it can mimic a black hole. https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/news/black-hole-centre-of-milky-way-dark-matter
Scientists thought there was a black hole at the centre of our Galaxy. It turns out it may be something even stranger | BBC Sky at Night Magazine

An article is reporting that the World's first computer sank off a small Aegean island in the 1st century BCE. The Antiktythera Mechanism appears to contain gears and holes and was used to calculate- but what? So Joseph Bayley and others set to find out. After examining in detail using data from LIGO it was decided that it was used to calculate the lunar calendar. The holes were precisely created at 0.028mm between each. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/archaeology/a70963756/hidden-computer-roman-empire-secret-study/
