"wasted" / spent 60' - 90' this morning investigating the latest #Floorp
update, v12.12.0, to ascertain if it might warrant me wandering back to it again as my default #browser, instead of my long-term stalwart
#FirefoxNightly
eventually decided it's not yet worth it
Pro
- via the optional #Flasco experiment, FF's current #SplitTabs limits of only two tabs & only vertically split, is improved to four tabs with also horizontal & grid splits
- Nightly's new #TabNotes function now also works in FF 149, ie, also Floorp
- Zen mode option
Con
- Floorp's tab-splitting operation tends to wreak havoc on #Sidebery's tab management
- Zen mode is a novelty-only for me, rather than actually helpful
- Nightly's fab new native emoji selector popup
Ctrl + .function is not yet available in 149, ergo Floorp - [this is a joke remark] Floorp's experimental mode name of "Flasco" is really unfortunate, coz it constantly seems to me like "Fiasco" when written then carelessly read

- The Zen Mode has been added. This provides users with a simple and calm environment to help them focus on their work.
- The Zen Mode is designed to help users focus on web content by minimizing the browser interface and eliminating notifications and other distractions. By enabling The Zen Mode, users can enjoy a more comfortable browsing experience. This feature can be toggled on and off by clicking the toolbar icon, using mouse gestures, or keyboard shortcuts.
and
- Split View can now be divided into up to 4 panes. Additionally, Split View state is now preserved after browser restart, and three layout options are available: vertical, horizontal, and grid. [Floorp Flasco]
- While Firefox 149 introduced a Split View feature, this Floorp update improves upon it and customizes it to be more feature-rich to better suit Floorp. The current maximum is 4 panes, but we are considering increasing this in the future. However, since this is a very complex feature, it will undergo beta testing through Flasco for a while, and we plan to improve it based on user feedback.
