Keflavík BIKF → Akureyri BIAR
Diesmal mit der Daher TBM, was ein geiles Gerät 🤓
Unterwegs zu sehen: u. A. Reykjavík und der Langjökull-Gletscher.

I'm goin' to Miami, welcome to Miami…
Florida Keys Marathon Airport KMTH → Miami International KMIA
Again with the Daher TBM – I'd say it's my new favorite airplane.
Berlin/Brandenburg International EDDB → Leipzig/Halle EDDP
Today I flew with live weather, which unfortunately brought more rain than the snow that was actually observed.
I departed from runway 24R hoping for a nice view over the city, but it was covered by clouds most of the time.

Back on the same route again, enjoying dusk under a beautiful sky and flying into the night.
This time there was a stunning view from above Berlin.

Akureyri BIAR → Ísafjarðarflugvöllur BIIS
Landing at BIIS was a real challenge for me. The “Short” in “Short Final” takes on a whole new meaning here. Still, it worked out nicely, and the scenery along the way was amazing!

St. John's CYYT → Saint Pierre LFVP
New journey: Starting from the far eastern tip of Newfoundland and tracing a path all the way to the Florida Keys.
First stop: Saint Pierre and Miquelon, France’s overseas collectivity just off North America.
#FlightSim #StJohns #Newfoundland #Canada #Miquelon #SaintPierre #France #Daher #TBM
Saint Pierre LFVP → St. Andrews Codroy Valley CDA5
After takeoff and a big 270° turn, I cruised straight over Miquelon-Langlade (remember the last season of Peaky Blinders?) heading northwest. Hugged Newfoundland’s south coast all the way to the island’s western tip, where the tiny St. Andrews Codroy Valley airstrip marked the day’s finish line.

St. Andrews Codroy Valley CDA5 → McCurdy Sydney CYQY
I’ve left Newfoundland behind and crossed the Laurentian Channel on my way to Nova Scotia. For this leg, I swapped the Daher TBM 930 for a Beechcraft King Air 350i.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Newfoundland #NovaScotia #CapeBretonIsland #Sydney #Beechcraft #KingAir
McCurdy Sydney CYQY → Port Hawkesbury CYPD
Back in the Daher TBM 930, I flew an IFR trip to Port Hawkesbury. The windsock in Sydney was sticking straight out, with over 40 knots coming in at an angle from the front. The whole flight was correspondingly bumpy and included icing; I think I’ll repeat it in better weather.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Canada #NovaScotia #Sydney #PortHawkesbury #Daher #TBM
McCurdy Sydney CYQY → Port Hawkesbury CYPD
Second attempt. The weather was actually great along the way, but at the destination it turned back to rain and strong winds. Won't give it another shot, at least not in this season ;-)
#FlightSim #MSFS #Canada #NovaScotia #Sydney #PortHawkesbury #Daher #TBM
Port Hawkesbury CYPD → Halifax Stanfield CYHZ
A swap to a Cessna Citation CJ4 made the roughly 100 miles pass quickly. With a comfortable climb rate of 4,000 feet per minute, you still reach the tops of the clouds in no time.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Canada #NovaScotia #PortHawkesbury #Halifax #Cessna #Citation #CJ4
Halifax Stanfield CYHZ → St. Stephen CCS3
Leaving Nova Scotia for the last stop on Canadian soil at the small St. Stephen Airport, directly at the border to the Unites States. The runway there is only about 200 metres longer than the TBM’s required landing distance, so there’s not much margin for error on approach.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Canada #NovaScotia #Halifax #StStephen #Daher #TBM
St. Stephen CCS3 → Hancock County/Bar Harbor KBHB
A dense cloud cover meant hardly any light reached the ground – but plenty of snow did. The anti-ice systems had their hands full, and I only just managed to reach the ILS minima.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Snow #Canada #USA #StStephen #HancockCounty #BarHarbor #Daher #TBM
Hancock County/Bar Harbor KBHB → Augusta State KAUG
I move a bit away from the coast toward the interior. Many lakes nestled in extensive forested areas offer a beautiful view of the Northeastern USA. The snow-covered White Mountains are already visible on the horizon.
Instead of letting the ILS bring me down to the the runway, I decide at short notice to land by hand after all.
#FlightSim #MSFS #USA #HancockCounty #BarHarbor #AugustaState #Daher #TBM
Augusta State KAUG → Berlin Regional Airport KMBL
Berlin Regional is located a bit north of the White Mountain National Forest; the best-known peak here is Mt. Washington. The winter landscape offers a beautiful view from above.
I was in Berlin, NH in 2008 (with a car) and had a nice conversation at a gas station about how I’m also from Berlin – but the other Berlin, in Germany.
#FlightSim #MSFS #USA #WhiteMountain #NewEngland #NewHampshire #Maine #Augusta #Berlin #Daher #TBM
Berlin Regional Airport KMBL → Portland International KPWM
The flight took me back to the coast, but not without flying over Mt. Washington once more. The wind, coming almost straight down the approach path, helped with the buttery-smooth landing in Portland.
#FlightSim #MSFS #USA #Berlin #WhiteMountain #MtWashington #NewEngland #NewHampshire #Maine #Portland #Daher #TBM
Portland International KPWM → Boston Logan International KBOS
A nice loop after takeoff took me straight over the airport in Portland before the trip continued in glorious sunshine along the East Coast toward Boston.
I’d done almost the same route back in 2008, but that time by car heading north (first on I-95, then MA 1A and NH 1A).

Boston Logan International KBOS → Provincetown KPVC
Destination: Nantucket. Reality: An unscheduled landing at the northern tip of Cape Cod. Between a fuel complication and some challenging crosswinds on the approach, it was a busy day in the cockpit.
#FlightSim #MSFS #USA #NewEngland #Massachusetts #Boston #CapeCod #Provincetown #Daher #TBM
Provincetown KPVC → Nantucket Memorial KACK
It’s been a while since I sat behind the controls. Before the TBM (and I) developed rust, I brought it from the north of Cape Cod down to Nantucket in a short low-altitude flight.

T. F. Green Airport, Providence KPVD → John F. Kennedy International KJFK
This time, I took the Cessna Citation CJ4 again, because why not. The weather was perfect, and I enjoyed stunning views of Long Island the entire flight!

John F. Kennedy International KJFK → Philadelphia International KPHL
We received clearance from ATC to fly parallel to Manhattan for a while before turning southwest. The weather was fine first, but took a turn for the worse: Rain severely reduced visibility in Philadelphia, bringing it dangerously close to the minimums required for a safe landing. I suppose it isn’t always sunny in Philadelphia after all.
#FlightSim #MSFS #NewYork #NYC #Philadelphia #Pennsylvania #Daher #TBM #Rainbow
Philadelphia International KPHL → Atlantic City International KACY
The conditions were perfect for a memorable morning flight. I took the Cessna 152 out of the hangar for a short, 40-nautical-mile VFR flight into the sunrise. Practicing coordinated flight and VOR/OBS navigation proved more challenging than IFR operations.
#FlightSim #MSFS #Philadelphia #Pennsylvania #AtlanticCity #NewJersey #Cessna #Cessna152
Atlantic City International KACY → Ocean City Municipal KOXB
There were no surprises on this flight along the Atlantic coast, except for one: I was too high during the initial approach, which necessitated a go-around before I was able to land safely.
#FlightSim #MSFS #AtlanticCity #NewJersey #OceanCity #Maryland #Daher #TBM
Ocean City Municipal KOXB → Ronald Reagan Washington National KDCA
A quick detour from the coast to Washington DC: I wanted to try the RNAV approach to runway 19 and see if I would feel queasy from the many small left and right curves following the Potomac River. Everything went well, with great views and a butter-smooth landing.
#FlightSim #MSFS #OceanCity #Maryland #Washington #DC #RonaldReagan #NewJersey #Cessna #Citation #CJ4
Today is the day I realized that the shortcut for stopping video recording in the AMD Radeon Software is the same one that shuts down the engine in Microsoft Flight Simulator (yeah, in flight of course).
At least I was able to capture a brief video of today’s turbulent flight.
Ronald Reagan Washington National KDCA → Norfolk International KORF
The way out of DC is just as winding as the way in – I’m taking off from runway 01 and navigating north through strong gusts, then making a wide turn to head southeast towards Norfolk. It’s calmer at 12,000 feet, but the gusts return as I reach lower altitudes for the approach.
However, I did not land this time, as mentioned in the previous post.

Now.
Moonrise. Somewhere over Brandenburg, Germany.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport EDDB → Berlin Brandenburg Airport EDDB
Right after work, I took a round-trip flight to the Lower Lusatia region in the Daher TBM 930, passing by my current and former hometowns. The flight was in real-time with actual weather conditions, allowing me to witness both the moonrise and sunset at the same time (check out my previous posts in this thread for “photos”).
