¾ oz Ancho Reyes chili liqueur
1½ oz rye whiskey

Glassware: Chilled coupe
Method: Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir. Strain into a chilled coupe and serve without garnish.

This one was a delight to drink! Strong rye notes give way to balanced bitter with a lingering heat from the generous pour of chili liqueur. And how about that action shot?? I was pretty thrilled with how it turned out.

½ oz lemon juice
½ oz orgeat
½ oz peach liqueur
½ oz Cynar
1 oz bourbon
1 oz mezcal

Garnish: mint sprig, dehydrated pineapple
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice and shake. Open pour, top with more crushed ice, and garnish.

I know what you're thinking, it's barely a Mai Tai.. but still, it has orgeat and packs a punch on a sunny afternoon 🤣 This version comes from Lui Fern's channel on IG, but when I searched around I found several variations. Original garnish calls for fresh pineapple chunk, Lui used dehydrated, but I had peaches around and felt it complemented the bourbon and peach liqueur. You do you!

CHOCO-NANA OLD FASHIONED

4 dashes walnut bitters
2 dashes Peychauds bitters
¼ oz creme de cacao
¼ oz banana liqueur
2 oz Pot Still Lightly Aged Rum ❶

Garnish: orange twist
Method: Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir. Strain over a large rock of clear ice, express an orange peel, and garnish with it.

I whipped this up on a whim after a long summer weekend filled with activity. A storm arrived in the evening and I wanted something to go with the chill in the air. I used Doctor Bird as my base, whose funkiness gets elevated by the banana/cacao liqueur. Overall quite sweet tbh; maybe next time I'd reduce to barspoons of liqueur instead of quarter shots, or use an OP as the base spirit.

3 oz pineapple juice
1 oz lemon juice
¼ oz SC demerara syrup
1 oz ginger liqueur
½ oz St. Elizabeth allspice dram
1 oz Black Blended Rum ❺
1 oz Blended Lightly Aged Rum ❷

Garnish: grated nutmeg
Method: Add all the ingredients to a drink mixer tin. Fill with 12 ounces of crushed ice and 4 to 6 agitator cubes. Flash blend and open pour into a hollowed-out pineapple. Garnish with grated nutmeg.

A real job to hollow out the pineapple, but the fun vessel makes it worth it! Also no harm in throwing an extra straw in there for a party of two who won't mind sharing.

Picked these up from Julio's Liquors this week.

The Wyoming Whiskey 50th Anniversary Julio's Liquors bespoke 120.6 proof seven year old single barrel straight bourbon whiskey.

And the St. George Spirits NOLA Coffee Liqueur. I got to try this as a bonus after a recent Whiskey Wednesday, thanks to the rep having a bottle in their car and being willing to let us try it. In liked it so much I put in a special order for one, as did two others. I believe they got a case in, so there were three more available last I knew.

This is cold brewed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, French chicory root, Madagascar vanilla, and organic cane sugar. Very simple, very tasty. Just this over ice would be a good sipper.

A rich and creamy dessert cocktail, this one is hard not to gulp down! For garnish I did nutmeg instead of chocolate powder for that extra somethin. Spec is on Difford's Guide, created by Gabriele Carnaghi.

½ oz lime juice
½ oz demerara syrup
½ oz honey syrup
½ oz raspberry liqueur
2 oz Blended Aged Rum ❸
pinch of grated cinnamon

Garnish: raspberries, lime wheel
Method: Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with cracked or cubed ice. Shake and double-strain into a chilled coupe. Float a lime wheel in the center of the drink and rest a raspberry in the center.

Named after an ester discovered in a dust ball scanned by the Max Planck Institute of Radio Astronomy in 2009, which smells of rum and gives raspberries their taste! Spec is by Martin Cate, Smuggler's Cove p121.
