Il Fatto Quotidiano: Blackout totale a Cuba: proseguono i guasti alla rete elettrica dell’isola a causa delle sanzioni degli Stati Uniti

L’intera isola di Cuba è rimasta senza elettricità a seguito di un blackout, come comunicato dalla compagnia statale Unión Eléctrica de Cuba (Une). Non è la prima volta che un’interruzione di corrente colpisce il Paese caraibico, che già da tempo subisce gravi difficoltà energetiche anche a causa dal blocco del petrolio imposto dagli Stati Uniti per fare pressione sul governo comunista dell’isola.
La Une ha dichiarato che si è verificata la disconnessione totale del Sistema energetico nazionale (SEN), che ha causato la sospensione simultanea dell’energia in tutto il Paese. Le cause precise del guasto non sono state ancora chiarite, ma la compagnia dell’Avana, in un breve messaggio pubblicato sul proprio canale Telegram ufficiale, ha spiegato che sono già state avviate le procedure per ripristinare gradualmente la fornitura elettrica.
Secondo quanto riportato da alcuni media locali e dalla CNN, i residenti dell’Avana hanno visto la corrente interrompersi improvvisamente dopo l’alternarsi di alcuni spegnimenti e riaccensioni. Testimonianze simili sono giunte anche da altre province. Questo risulta essere il primo collasso totale della rete elettrica cubana registrato nel 2026, ma il sistema energetico cubano vive già da tempo alcune difficoltà: il 4 marzo un guasto alla centrale termoelettrica Centrale termoelettrica Antonio Guiteras, nella provincia di Matanzas, aveva tagliato fuori dalla rete elettrica la maggior parte del territorio nazionale. Il ripristino della rete era arrivato a rilento a causa della scarsità di carburante fondamentale per alimentare i sistemi elettrici locali.
Proseguono intanto le tensioni nell’isola, legate anche alle proteste per i frequenti e prolungati tagli di corrente. A Morón, città nella provincia di Ciego de Ávila, decine di persone sono scese in strada al grido di slogan a favore della libertà. Le autorità hanno arrestato diversi partecipanti e dispiegato forze di sicurezza in diverse zone del paese.
In tutto questo si susseguono le dichiarazioni del presidente Usa: “Cuba è in cattiva forma, stanno parlando con Marco”, ha detto Donald Trump alla Casa Bianca riferendosi al segretario di Stato Rubio. “Faremo qualcosa molto presto con Cuba”, ha aggiunto.

The entire island of Cuba was left without electricity following a blackout, as announced by the state-owned Unión Eléctrica de Cuba (Une). It is not the first time that a power outage has struck the Caribbean country, which has long suffered from serious energy difficulties also due to the oil embargo imposed by the United States to pressure the island’s communist government.

Une has stated that a complete disconnection of the National Energy System (SEN) occurred, which caused the simultaneous suspension of energy throughout the country. The precise cause of the failure has not yet been clarified, but the Havana company, in a brief message published on its official Telegram channel, explained that procedures have already been initiated to gradually restore the electricity supply.

According to some local media and CNN, residents of Havana saw the power cut out suddenly after a series of brief outages and restorations. Similar testimonies have also come from other provinces. This is the first total collapse of the Cuban electricity grid recorded in 2026, but the Cuban energy system has long faced some difficulties: on March 4th, a failure at the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant in the Matanzas province cut off most of the national territory from the electricity grid. The restoration of the grid was slow due to the scarcity of fuel fundamental to powering local electrical systems.

Tensions in the island continue, also linked to protests over frequent and prolonged power outages. In Morón, a city in the Ciego de Ávila province, dozens of people took to the streets shouting slogans in favor of freedom. Authorities have arrested several participants and deployed security forces in various parts of the country.

Amid all this, statements from the US president continue: “Cuba is in bad shape, they’re talking with Marco,” said Donald Trump at the White House referring to Secretary of State Rubio. “We will do something very soon with Cuba,” he added.

Londra, 17 mar. (askanews) - Il primo ministro britannico Keir Starmer ha ribadito oggi al presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky che la guerra in Iran non deve distogliere l'attenzione dall'Ucraina, riferisce il Guardian.
In un rapido confronto con la stampa, prima dell'inizio dei colloqui privati a Downing Street, Starmer ha sottolineato che alla Russia non dovrebbe essere consentito di trarre vantaggio dal conflitto iraniano, che ha fatto salire i prezzi del petrolio e portato gli Stati Uniti a sospendere parzialmente le sanzioni contro Mosca.
Starmer ha dichiarato: "La nostra determinazione è incrollabile. Penso sia molto importante chiarire che il focus deve rimanere sull'Ucraina. Ovviamente c'è un conflitto in corso in Iran, in Medio Oriente, ma non possiamo perdere di vista ciò che sta accadendo in Ucraina e l'importanza del nostro sostegno. Putin non può essere colui che trae vantaggio da un conflitto in Iran, sia per i prezzi del petrolio sia per la sospensione delle sanzioni".
Zelensky ha ringraziato il Regno Unito e sottolineato la necessità di non dimenticare "gli sforzi diplomatici e i negoziati in corso, e la situazione attuale con gli americani e con i russi", aggiungendo che nel corso dell'incontro avrebbero discusso anche della guerra in Iran, che a suo dire sta avendo una "grande influenza" sull'Ucraina e sull'Europa.

London, March 17 (askanews) - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer today reiterated to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the war in Iran must not divert attention from Ukraine, reports the Guardian.

In a brief exchange with the press, before private talks began at Downing Street, Starmer stressed that Russia should not be allowed to benefit from the Iranian conflict, which has driven up oil prices and led the United States to partially suspend sanctions against Moscow.

Starmer stated: "Our determination is unwavering. It is very important to make clear that the focus must remain on Ukraine. Obviously there is a conflict underway in Iran, in the Middle East, but we cannot lose sight of what is happening in Ukraine and the importance of our support. Il Fatto Quotidiano: Tutti i miei No alla separazione delle carriere

Al referendum di domenica e lunedì prossimi, voto No ma non già per affiancarmi a questa inguardabile sinistra atlantista e neoliberista e dare un assist alla stessa. Voto No ma non perché credo che il pubblico ministero attuale sia indipendente dall’esecutivo: i pm sono uomini e come tali hanno determinate convinzioni politiche e bene o male le trasferiscono nel loro lavoro, ad esempio decidendo di perseguire certi reati e certi no.
E comunque certi reati già oggi, di fatto, vengono perseguiti ed altri no. L’ho verificato con il movimento No TAV che difendevo: solo gli antagonisti erano brutti e cattivi anche se a pestare erano le forze dell’ordine. Così come ricordo bene tanti anni fa quando Vladimiro Zagrebelsky, allora a capo della Pretura di Torino, emanò una circolare con cui si stilava la priorità nei reati da perseguire e se il reo rientrava in quelli al fondo dell’elenco era pressoché certo di farla franca.

Voto No ma non perché credo che oggi ci sia una reale giustizia. Già oggi le carceri sono piene di poveracci e vuote di ricchi o benestanti, che possono permettersi fior di avvocati capaci di portare i processi avanti fino alla prescrizione. Di fatto esiste oggi una giustizia di classe.
Voto No semplicemente perché credo che in futuro ci sarebbe ancor meno giustizia di oggi. Voto No perché credo che aumenterebbe ancor di più la forbice tra ciò che è legale e ciò che è gusto, ovviamente secondo la mia personale valutazione. Voto no perché la separazione la volevano gente come Berlusconi e Gelli. Voto No per fare qualcosa contro un governo che reprime il dissenso, che vara norme populiste, che salvaguarda i colletti bianchi. Voto No perché voglio essere un po’ infantile e se la riforma la vuole questo governo di fantocci è sbagliata. Voto No perché voglio essere doppiamente infantile e se la separazione delle carriere c’è in Israele e negli Stati Uniti vuol dire che è sbagliata.

I will vote No, but not because I believe that there is real justice today. Today, prisons are full of poor people and empty of the rich or wealthy, who can afford a wealth of capable lawyers to bring processes to a conclusion through prescription. In fact, there is already a class justice today.

I will vote No simply because I believe that there would be even less justice in the future than there is today. I will vote No because I believe that the gap between what is legal and what is taste would increase even more, of course according to my personal evaluation. L'Unità: Scossone nell’amministrazione Trump, lascia il capo dell’antiterrorismo: “L’Iran non era una minaccia, pressioni da Israele”

“Non posso in coscienza appoggiare la guerra in corso in Iran. L’Iran non rappresentava una minaccia imminente per la nostra nazione, ed è chiaro che abbiamo iniziato questa guerra a causa delle pressioni di Israele e della sua potente lobby americana”. Con queste parole, tanto dure quanto clamorose, l’amministrazione Trump fa i conti col primo funzionario di alto livello al suo interno che sceglie le dimissioni dopo lo scoppiare della guerra contro l’Iran.
Si tratta di Joe Kent e fino ad oggi era a capo del National Counterterrorism Center, l’agenzia statunitense responsabile dell’intelligence antiterrorismo. Nominato da Trump nel febbraio 2025, subito dopo l’insediamento alla Casa Bianca, Kent ha pubblicato sul suo profilo X la lettera di dimissioni in cui sottolinea la sua contrarietà all’intervento militare statunitense in Iran che ha mandato in ebollizione il Medio Oriente.
Kent nella sua lettera di dimissioni sostiene in particolare che “funzionari israeliani e figure influenti nei media americani hanno lanciato una campagna di disinformazione” volta a incoraggiare la guerra contro l’Iran, una campagna che ha tratto in inganno lo stesso Trump facendo credere al presidente Usa che il regime di Teheran rappresentasse una minaccia immediata per gli Stati Uniti e che, se avesse agito subito, la vittoria sarebbe stata raggiunta rapidamente.

“Era una menzogna, ed è la stessa tattica che gli israeliani hanno usato per trascinarci nella disastrosa guerra in Iraq, che ci è costata la vita di migliaia dei nostri migliori figli e figlie. Non possiamo ripetere questo errore”, ha scritto Kent nella sua lettera. Parole che di fatto sembra confermare quanto detto nei giorni scorsi dal Segretario di Stato Usa Marco Rubio, che aveva fatto intendere come gli Stati Uniti fossero entrati in guerra contro l’Iran su pressione del governo israeliano di Benjamin Netanyahu, tesi che Trump aveva poi negato.
Kent arriva da una storia personale e politica particolare. Ha avuto esperienza nell’esercito e sua moglie, come lui membro dell’esercito, era stata uccisa nel 2019 durante un attentato in Siria, a Manbij. Anche per questo era un convinto isolazionista, sposando pienamente l’ideologia MAGA (Make America Great Again, ndr) promosso proprio da Trump e dai suoi più ferventi seguaci.
Kent era anche uno dei più stretti collaboratori di Tulsi Gabbard, direttrice delle 18 agenzie dell’intelligence statunitensi e sostenitrice di molte delle teorie del complotto di Trump.

It is a lie, and it’s the same tactic that Israelis used to drag us into the disastrous war in Iraq, which cost us the lives of thousands of our best sons and daughters. We cannot repeat this mistake,” Kent wrote in his resignation letter. Words that effectively confirm what was said in the days before by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who had suggested that the United States had entered war with Iran under pressure from the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, a claim that Trump had later denied.

Kent comes from a particular personal and political history. He has military experience and his wife, also a member of the military, was killed in 2019 during an attack in Syria, in Manbij. This also made him a convinced isolationist, fully embracing the MAGA (Make America Great Again) ideology promoted by Trump and his most fervent followers.

Kent was also one of Tulsi Gabbard’s closest collaborators, director of the 18 US intelligence agencies and a supporter of many of Trump’s conspiracy theories.

"Non sono sorpreso dalla loro reazione, tuttavia, perché ho sempre considerato la Nato, dove spendiamo centinaia di miliardi di dollari all'anno per proteggere questi stessi Paesi, una strada a senso unico: noi li proteggeremo, ma loro non faranno nulla per noi, in particolare, in caso di bisogno", aggiunge. “The United States has been informed by most of our ‘allies’ in NATO that they do not want to be involved in our military operation against the terrorist regime of Iran in the Middle East, despite the fact that almost all countries agree with what we are doing and that Iran cannot, in any way, be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon,” Trump added.
