History teaches that ceasefires in this part of the world often fail. But even if it is a parenthesis, it is clear that the belligerents, and especially the United States, believe it is convenient to grant themselves at least a pause. However, the future of the Middle East will not be decided solely by the US, Israel, and the weak Iranian regime: other actors, such as Pakistan and Turkey, will be fundamental.
