Palestinian prisoner institutions say Israel is holding more than 9,300 Palestinian detainees, including women and children, and has classified 1,249 of them as “unlawful combatants,” among them prisoners from Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. The groups report a sharp rise in administrative detention, which has reached 3,358 cases, the highest among all prisoner categories.
Rights organizations warn of systematic abuse and deliberate medical neglect inside Israeli prisons, describing severe beatings, denial of treatment, and inhumane conditions that risk a mass health crisis. Israeli rights group B’Tselem has characterized the prison system as a network of “systematic torture camps.
