I have found myself bothered by the reaction from some circles via the
#UHC #CEO shooting. I totally understand the sentiment. As a line from an early 70s song said, if anyone needed dying he did. However, as poor of an excuse for a human being that he might be, he’s still just that, a human being. And I have always felt that me actually cheering someone else’s demise, no matter who, dehumanizes me. I remember feeling the same way when
#Osama was killed. People celebrated like their team had just won the Super Bowl. I just couldn’t. And to me it felt like the celebrations were just plain wrong. I’m seeing the guy who gunned him down being lionized as a hero, a present-day Robin Hood, and other things. I just can’t go along with that. For one thing, suppose someone else wound up taking the bullet? Also, there’s this little pesky idea that killing another person, except in self-defense, is just plain wrong. I just can’t move from that belief.
#JuryNullification should not apply here.
