Speaking at the U.S. Civil-Military Coordination Center in Israel, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed that Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza under U.S. policy.
He stressed that any refusal by Hamas to fully disarm would violate the ceasefire. Rubio also emphasized Washington’s position that Gaza’s future must exclude both Hamas and UNRWA, aligning fully with Trump’s vision for post-war Gaza governance.
This mirrors Israel’s vision for Gaza, as Netanyahu has sought throughout two years of genocide to undermine UNRWA and prevent its return to Gaza, aiming to replace it with an Israeli-American aid agency that could exert political pressure on Gaza in the future.
