Ieri mattina i bambini di Umm al-Khair, a Masafer Yatta, Cisgiordania occupata, tornavano a scuola per la prima volta dopo quarantaquattro giorni. Le lezioni erano sospese dal 28 febbraio, data di inizio delle operazioni statunitensi e israeliane contro l’Iran. Durante la notte i coloni di Carmel avevano steso filo spinato sull’unica strada che porta alle aule. Si sono seduti davanti al filo spinato e hanno tenuto lezione all’aperto.
Le forze israeliane hanno sparato granate lacrimogene e stordenti. Sarah Al-Hathaleen, dodici anni, ha detto ad AFP: «Mi hanno lanciato una granata. Ho avuto paura e sono corsa via. Ho cominciato a piangere.» Rashid Al-Hathaleen, undici anni: «Stanotte eravamo eccitatissimi per la scuola. Gli israeliani hanno chiuso la strada con il filo spinato. Vogliamo tornare a scuola.»
L’esercito israeliano ha comunicato ad AFP di aver «disperso un raduno insolito di palestinesi», precisando che «non sono stati riportati feriti». Le riprese di AFP documentano il lancio dei candelotti. La formula trasforma bambini seduti in soggetti da disperdere.
Bassam Jabr, direttore dell’istruzione di Masafer Yatta, ha dichiarato: «I coloni cercano di stringerci il nodo al collo in ogni modo. Uno di questi metodi è tagliare la strada agli studenti mentre espandono l’insediamento.» Nella Cisgiordania occupata vivono oltre cinquecentomila israeliani in insediamenti che il diritto internazionale definisce illegali.
La Global Sumud Flotilla è in mare dal 12 aprile: settanta imbarcazioni, tremila partecipanti da cento paesi, il doppio della flotta intercettata nel settembre 2025. Il portavoce Pablo Castilla ha dichiarato che l’attenzione internazionale su Gaza è calata dall’inizio della guerra all’Iran. L’esercito israeliano ha scritto: «non sono stati riportati feriti».

School during the occupation

Yesterday morning, the children of Umm al-Khair, in Masafer Yatta, Occupied Palestinian Territories, were returning to school for the first time after forty-four days. Lessons had been suspended since February 28, the date of the start of the U.S. and Israeli operations against Iran. During the night, the Carmel settlers had laid barbed wire on the only road leading to the classrooms. They sat in front of the barbed wire and held lessons outdoors.

Israeli forces fired tear gas and stun grenades. Sarah Al-Hathaleen, twelve years old, told AFP: “They threw a grenade at me. I was scared and ran away. I started to cry.” Rashid Al-Hathaleen, eleven years old: “Last night we were so excited about school. The Israelis closed the road with barbed wire. We want to go back to school.”

The Israeli military told AFP that it had “dispersed an unusual gathering of Palestinians,” stating that “no injuries were reported.” AFP’s footage documents the throwing of the grenades. The formula transforms seated children into subjects to disperse.

Bassam Jabr, Director of Education in Masafer Yatta, stated: “The settlers are trying to tighten the noose around our necks in every way. One of these methods is cutting off the road to students while expanding the settlement.” More than five hundred thousand Israelis live in settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories that international law defines as illegal.

The Global Sumud Flotilla has been at sea since April 12: seventy vessels, three thousand participants from one hundred countries, twice the fleet intercepted in September 2025. Spokesperson Pablo Castilla stated that international attention on Gaza has decreased since the beginning of the war with Iran. The Israeli military wrote: “No injuries were reported.”

With Blockade On Iranian Ports Established, Trump Says Islamic Terrorist Regime Wants To Make A Deal “Very Badly”

Now that the blockade on Iranian ports has been done by the United States, President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the Islamic terrorist regime reached out to them wanting to make a deal “very badly”, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post. This happened not so long after the initial US-Iran negotiations failed and the Islamic regime has a history of lying and pretending when negotiating with America.

Iran called the United States, wanting “very badly” to make a deal, US President Donald Trump claimed to reporters at the White House on Monday.

Trump said he didn’t want to comment on what would happen if a deal wasn’t reached by the end of the ongoing ceasefire, but that “it won’t be pleasant for them, let me put it that way.“

Trump also said that Iran had refused to agree to having a nuclear weapon and that the US would get the nuclear material back.

“We can’t let a country blackmail or extort the world,” Trump said.

Vice President JD Vance had done a “very good job” on Iran, the president added.

Trump also threatened that the US might also visit Cuba after finishing with Iran.

Trump threatens Iranian ships in Strait of Hormuz – Trump warned that any Iranian vessels attempting to come close to the US’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will be “immediately ELIMINATED,” in a post to Truth Social on Monday.

“Iran’s Navy is laying at the bottom of the sea, completely obliterated – 158 ships,” Trump said.

As of April 1, 2026, nearly 72,300 Palestinians have been directly killed, with over 172,000 recorded injuries. Scholars estimate 80% of Palestinians killed were civilians, and a UN human rights study found that 70% of those killed in residential buildings were women and children.

The framing is very specific: it positions Israel as the defender of civilization against barbarism, which is a rhetorical move with a long colonial genealogy (the same logic used to justify virtually every atrocity committed by Western powers against non-Western populations.) The same logic the Germans (yes the same Germans now holding the EU back from forcing Israel to stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and ethnic cleansing of the West Bank and south of Lebanon) used to justify their own civilizational war.

IDF Says There Won’t Be Major Fights Left In Lebanon Within A Few Days

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration of direct talks with the Lebanese government for potential peace, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that within a few days, there won’t be major fights remaining in Lebanon although it might have to engage in limited fighting with the leftover Hezbollah terrorists in specific parts of the country, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from The Jerusalem Post’s news report. Some parts in boldface…

The IDF on Monday said that once it completes its operation against Hezbollah in Bint Jbil in southern Lebanon in the coming days, there will not be any remaining major fights for it to undertake in the area.

In addition, the IDF added that there were still several areas where it would continue to clear Hezbollah weapons that it had found during its invasion of southern Lebanon. Such clearing operations could continue for a longer, somewhat indefinite period.

Further, the IDF might still engage in limited fighting with leftover Hezbollah forces in parts of southern Lebanon who have not withdrawn north of the Litani River with most of Hezbollah’s other forces.

IDF will have no remaining strategic targets in southern Lebanon – However, broadly speaking, the IDF will have no remaining strategic targets in southern Lebanon, and for several days since the Iran ceasefire on Tuesday-Wednesday of last week, the military has refrained from attacks in Beirut and other more strategic areas for Hezbollah.

Even ongoing air force attacks are more focused now on preventing real-time rocket crew threats to Israel’s home front than they are on eliminating Hezbollah’s deeper capabilities, which had been a goal of the IDF when the Israel-Hezbollah conflict was still at its height.

Regarding the Bint Jbil battle, which has already lasted several days, the IDF has already broken into the heart of the village.

Division 98 caught Hezbollah’s dozens or more fighters there by surprise, surrounding them from all sides before they could find a way to retreat and escape.

The Givati Brigade, the Paratroopers Brigade, and multiple commando units, including Maglan, have been involved in the battles in and around Bint Jbil.

Since Division 98 entered the Bint Jbil area, the IDF said that it has successfully eliminated rocket fire on Israel from the area.

Given that some of the heaviest fire from Lebanon had been from Bint Jbil, this has also reduced Hezbollah’s ability to fire on northern Israel in broader strategic terms.

That said, Hezbollah still has significant volumes of rockets that can strike northern Israel from deeper parts of Lebanon beyond the Litani River.

The IDF admitted that despite a huge invasion of southern Lebanon for three months in the fall of 2024, it had failed to fully clear Bint Jbil of weapons at the time.

This current invasion of Bint Jbil is, in part, a corrective measure for that oversight. In addition to Division 98, Divisions 162, 146, 91, and 36 are operating in southern Lebanon.

Collectively, the IDF has killed around 1,400 Hezbollah fighters, around 100 in the Bint Jbil area.
