#Palestinian authorities, themselves under #Turkish #occupation, begged #Ottomans to prohibit #Russian #Jews from immigrating even before the arrival of Zionists — most of whom arrived only after #WWI.

Prior to #WWI, #Palestinian #grievance against Jews was one of #economic #competition, not #occupation or #oppression.
