In the very north of Germany (#zone7a), I try to grow delicious #food in a sustainable way. Beside our #NoDig naturalistic #garden & #VegPatch, I run a #MarketGarden / #allotment. I love #cooking and to share my #recipes.
Toots in (mostly) English and German

Ganz im Norden Deutschlands versuche ich nachhaltig Leckeres im eigenen #NoDig #Garten und #Marktgarten zu produzieren und damit zu #kochen. Leider kann ich (noch) nicht von Milchprodukten lassen...

@BRKitchenGarden Growing heirloom varieties is becoming ever more important. They can provide increased resilience, sustainability and biodiversity.

The Heritage Seed Library (UK) is not legally allowed to sell seed. It is too expensive and onerous to register seed for commercial sale.

Instead, people can opt to receive a small number of seeds every year as part of the benefit of membership. #Gardening #HeirloomSeeds #SeedSaving #LandraceGardening

Garden Organic | How the Heritage Seed Library works

The seed library holds over 800 varieties of seeds, including rare landrace varieties adapted to specific growing conditions, heirloom varieties saved…

First pick of the sweet peas from the allotment. Loving these dark colours. They smell gorgeous.

This is one of the best photos I have ever taken and the subject is rather special.

It has two beautiful names - Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn Beetle and Agapanthia villosoviridescens.

It is very localised and I found it just about within its range. A highly unusual find.

The flight shot was the result of luck, persistence and observation.

Enjoy!

For me it's all about the sweet corn. Here is the first planting (33 pots) one week after sowing. Doing well on the greenhouse bench, now that the night-time pilferage has stopped (mice - dealt with). In one more week they will go in to the ground and the process starts again.😀 🌽

Gartensalat für Faule

https://blog.derbrumme.de/gartensalat-fuer-faule/

Punktausende. Mein absolutes Lieblingsgemüse, Platz 1 auf der brummschen Top Ten. Nuff said. Ich gehe jetzt nicht weiter ins Detail, warum der so gut ist. Dieser winterharte Salat hat im Blog…

@Hesperalis @ASprinkleofSage Each to their own way, absolutely.

Your take is definitely how I would see it too. The predominant weed(s) coming up indicate what your soil is in need of.

One disadvantage to regular hoeing is missing out on that information.

I don’t play around with my brix refractometer nearly as much as I’d like. It’s a very useful bit of kit. When taking the brix reading, if the divide between the blue and white is blurred, it indicates the plant has plenty of calcium.

@Mr_Xarii

The loudest but most glorious sounding little bird! 🤗

Beautiful photo 💕

Thank you very much
mit dem Mikroskop fotografiert!?
Mit dem VLT 🔭😉
Nice shot! It is such a beautiful bird, so small. They are currently nesting in our garden. You see them flying back and forth, but we have not yet discovered where exactly the nest is. They know how to hide it well. They have to because many of our neighbours have cats. They regularly walk in our garden.
Thank you.
I had a wren in spring in the garden but never a nest😔. Good luck with the little one🤞
