When one of your people has to leave on an errand, you watch them until they are out of sight.

We finally have hand signal routine down so Geo understands we will be back.

My collection of saved bean seeds. Some for culinary use, others for sowing. All are heirloom or open pollinated varieties. One jar contains a cross of two beans as the start of landrace gardening. All the others look true to type.

The bean seeds are all distinct from each other in shape, size or colour.

I’ll be growing 5 more varieties (climbing, dwarf french and broad beans) for seed saving this year. #SeedSaving #GrowYourOwn #SolarPunkSunday

it's not actually necessary to adopt the media framing that "we" are in for summer "vacation disruptions" when other people in the world are in for basic-necessity "disruptions", including, potentially, famine due to the blockade 🙄

(this is a subtoot)

Once upon a time.
Today.
There was a very Trumpy rural town.
This small fruit stand is sometimes on the sidewalk in front of the parking lot of a chain pizza business.
I always stop and buy something.
Always.
This time while I was buying cherries a police officer showed up. The fruit vendor didn't understand that he was telling her that the pizza business had asked the police to remove her from in front of their business.
I understood.
I offered to help move her stand the one foot that would be required to comply.
As I started moving oranges and mangos other people stopped to help. Eventually even the officer came back to help us.
We got it done.
I took this photo to share with my husband and to help explain how I came to pay $100 for a small bag of cherries.
Things are changing in a good way.
I felt it today like an earthquake.

Just heard about this. Had a delightful conversation with @toxophyllum about it. Incredibly well deserved win for Tanshi and team.

Exciting morning! A large carpenter bee (Xylocopa sp) flew into this small tree stump left behind when the tree was removed. The tree is still giving all it has. Perfect refuge for her nest--in a quiet spot, in an out of the way place, in a big city.
