Exciting morning! A large carpenter bee (Xylocopa sp) flew into this small tree stump left behind when the tree was removed. The tree is still giving all it has. Perfect refuge for her nest--in a quiet spot, in an out of the way place, in a big city.

@kellyromanych They aren’t a patch on the wildflowers everyone around here seemingly want to decimate all the time but there’s plenty of flora about for the bees now if we would just let them blossom.

We definitely have more solitary bees in the garden this year with the re-location of the small pond in the garden last year.
