Mornin’

It’s been a while.

In a bit of a rush.

So I’ll just leave this here with you to mind.

And remind….

All’s not wrong in the world.

There are places…

The most punk thing you can do in times when a handful of people want to dominate all the news and posts: make room for those who deserve it. The world around me is bursting with springtime beauty.

I am deeply honoured to have received the 2026 Goldman Environmental Prize for Europe. This recognises my long fight as part of @[email protected] over fossil fuel production – and our eventual landmark legal victory. www.theguardian.com/environment/... @[email protected]

I have erected several wooden posts on the allotment, to add some height and structure and to grow some climbing plants. I got the idea to drill holes of different sizes in them to provide some nesting opportunities for solitary bees. Just a few days after drilling the holes the first bees have arrived! Mainly Mason bees Osmia bicornis which use the large holes, but have also seen Osmia caerulescens and O. leaiana which are smaller and are using the medium-sized holes. 😃 🐝 #bees #wildlife

Dug the last of the leeks yesterday. Although not the biggest, no sign of leek moth or the dreaded allium leaf mining fly, which is good news for this years onions and shallots.

Visited the plot this evening after being away for a week. I was mostly just having a nosy to see what has changed.

Spotted my first baby pear, on my 2yo Jargonelle tree (one of the oldest cultivated varieties of pear, first recorded in the 1620s).

I should knock it off so the tree can continue to mature but I was excited to see it! Means the Duchesse d'Angouleme tree next to it has successfully pollenated it so at least I know this pairing of pears works!

went to the highlands this weekend and saw a bird I’ve wanted to see my whole life - crested tits! we got to watch a pair gathering nesting materials and chasing off other birds from near their nest hole :’)

A New York State cemetery may be home to nearly 5.6 million ground-nesting bees. The colony is one of the largest ever recorded and likely one of the oldest.
