I’m a Black scientist, tired of facing racism and exclusion from academia

Hi everyone! Just getting started with my mastodon account. I am a Scientific Editor @JExpMed, and I am looking forward to getting to know the mastodon science community!
My suggestion if you want the Fediverse to work, follow and favorite and boost the absolute hell out of people. It’s not about dopamine or clout chasing, it’s about letting people know they’re not just typing into a void.
Ok, finally getting around to my #introduction. I am a #computational biologists who does wet lab work rocking the #newPI life at the Cleveland Clinic. My lab studies #emergingviruses using #singlecell technologies in suspension and spatially. We are interested in defining the #infection #microenvironment at barrier tissue sites. We mix #virology #immunology and #bioinformatics. Check us out at speranzalab.com!

👋🏽Hey, I'm hopping on the #introduction train for #followfriday #ff.

My name is Jenea (jen-AY), and I'm a 4th-year Ph.D. Candidate in #Genomics and #ComputationalBiology at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm also a dual MA Student in #Statistics and #DataScience at Wharton.

My research spans #transcriptomics/#RNA #splicing, #singlecell, #shortread, & #longread platforms, and innovating approaches to applying these tools in #cancer + #pediatric diseases

Hi #Mastodon, I’m new and wanted to introduce myself while figuring things out here! I am a #neuroscience PhD student at #UCIrvine. I’m interested in the topics of #aging, #Alzheimer’s, #vascular disease and #memory.
I also happen to make a lot of #SciArt like the one below. Look forward to interacting with you all on here! 😊 🧠

The fragmentation of Mastodon's servers can make it hard for #ScienceMastodon peeps who work across disciplines!

I am looking for biologists, clinicians, engineers, physicists, chemists, mathematicians, data scientists, social scientists and pretty much anybody working on innovative ways on doing #CancerResearch on here.

Can you help me reaching them on your server? Please hit 🔄 & follow

Let's make #ConvergenceScience work on Mastodon!

I'm really enjoying all the sharing that's going on here. Somehow it feels that there is more space on the internet than there has been in a long, long while.

Twitter, Facebook/Instagram, Youtube have gotten really good at becoming the internet's final frontier, forever directing the attention economy inward upon themselves.

I've never experienced so many wholesome, strange little artifacts of creativity from so many different people, sending me all over the web.

First time using an apple watch and it seems to be a pretty solid entry point for wearable tech. Feeling very sci-fi today.
