Weird #NewPI and #AcademicChatter thought: I think I've realised the thing I miss most after transitioning to a PI role: music. Almost all my work now focuses around reading/writing. I can't listen to music when I write. I never get to just sit at the bench and power through mindless tasks. 1/2

Before this, I was thinking of my Starting Grant application this year as a trial balloon. I'd put in the hard work, but if it didn't get funded, ah well! Live and learn! Now, there's suddenly much more pressure to do well. Now, if I don't get that "A" grade, I feel I'll be screwed. ⚗️ 🧪 #NewPI

The fact that I'm starting** to transition out of #NewPI status hit me today when I found a folder with a grant idea I really believe in, which I came up with 7 years ago, and which I wrote a serious grant pitch for 3 years ago, but then never submitted & haven't thought about since. 🙃 #AcademicSky
