#KenHenry ‘s most relevent words in his Guardian article are not about tax reforms but instead they are about the scourge of #Capitalism in large letters: “…towards investing in real restoration through shifting the responsibility for nature repair to precisely those industries that have caused the damage. Australia has spent many decades writing cheques against accounts it does not own, taking from the “natural capital” of future generations … “

So while Henry supports #Chalmers ‘ latest budget for its courage, modest as it is in imo, and accuses #GriftingCorporations of ecological genocide (rightly so), there is no finger pointing to #Labor ‘s continued financial and legislative subventions of the #FossilFuelIndustries and #ExtractiveIndustries responsible for worsening an already oversubscribed budget, withholding rightful sovereign revenue and raping a land never ceded.

Jim Chalmers’ budget doesn’t fix everything – but it’s an overdue first payment to future generations

The treasurer has shown economic reforms should not be left to the too-hard basket, and instead be pursued with a sense of urgency

#Reciprocity, #Respect, #Relationality: Three Rs to Understand #IndigenousPerspectives on Development in the #Green conomy

By Edson Krenak, May 27, 2026

"Reciprocity is more than a practice; it is our way of life, the way of life. Instead of focusing solely on economic growth, without limit, we must pay attention to check whether all beings are enjoying life in a healthy place. Without reciprocity, the green economy will reproduce the same extractive logic it claims to overcome, and eventually fail our common home, Earth."

Reciprocity, Respect, Relationality: Three Rs to Understand Indigenous Perspectives on Development in the Green Economy

By Edson Krenak (Krenak, CS Staff) Indigenous Peoples worldwide bring vital perspectives on development, human rights, and the responsibilities of the States and corporations in the green economy. Rooted in deep relationships with lands, waters, forests, and more-than-human lives, these perspectives offer essential pathways for addressing the climate crisis, for example.

We’ve watched the #LNP shoot itself in the foot, twice in both feet and redoubling its effort to dig its own grave. Now we’re being presented with a #Labor party apparently intent on following suite. #Unions and #LaborHeartland must be seething in frustration approaching outright anger by now.

I’ve been there and I’m not looking back. For me #Labor has lost its way, completely, maybe beyond salvage. The following is just furhter proof of it.

“There’s a tell when a politician has been captured by an industry lobby. The language shifts. The carefully prepared lines about “existing contracts,” “investment certainty,” and “there’s already a tax, actually” start flowing out with the smoothness of a media brief, because that’s exactly what they are. The Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on all evidence appears to have been captured. So has Resources Minister Madeleine King.”

Blink twice if you need help, Prime Minister

There's a tell when a politician has been captured by an industry lobby. The language shifts. Well, the Albanese Government is repeating Big Gas talking points word for word. Except Australians aren't buying it.

Diamond #mines in the #NWT are likely to follow the history of gold mines, leaving the public on the hook for costly clean-up. It is past time to make #mining companies pay. https://cabinradio.ca/290619/news/politics/what-do-ekatis-financial-troubles-mean-for-environmental-cleanup/

Thanks to Malthus, we have focused on food as the limit to population growth. For some reason, we have failed to consider how demands on other resources may have limits that we cannot afford to cross.

This govt reticence to apply a #GasExportTax or a #SuperProfitTax is not only despicable and a slap in the face of every #Australian, it’s also making a strong case for a call to #EndPoliticalDonations

We cannot have our Parliamentary Representative in the pocket of #ExtractiveIndustries or any #Corporation or #PrivateEnterprises or indeed championing an economic system that has, and is still proving it doesn’t work for the better interests of society as a whole.

Time for a for a #progressiveREvolution at the #VotingBooths people. Use your vote, use your brain put all Australians before your self interests and we might get out OK on the other side.

#AlboPM, you’re a traitor to the people who put you there in good faith.

As if we don’t have enough #Grifters making a pile on #Australia ‘s slack #TaxRevenue from #GasExports here is another one to add to that pile:

“Amid renewed debate over whether Australia is getting enough tax from its gas exports, an investigation by the ABC shows how one LNG producer uses Singapore to help boost its profits.

That company is Shell, the global oil and gas super major, which is the world’s largest trader of the fuel.

Over the eight years to 2024, Shell’s LNG trading and marketing arm in Singapore made billions of dollars in profit. And it did so by buying LNG from producer countries such as Australia before on-selling the gas at a significant mark-up.”

I wonder how many more #FossilFuel #TaxEvasionSchemes are operating that we don’t know about. Wake up #AlboPM we’re all being had here!

Albertans Could Soon Vote on Whether to Separate From Canada. Here’s What to Know

"Many Albertans have slammed the federal Liberal government for blocking #pipeline projects and canceling oil and gas projects. The province’s economy is largely driven by its #OilAndGas extraction, as well as #mining and #quarrying."

I find it hard to get my head around the fact that we (govt) subsidise #ExtractiveIndustries including #Gas and #FossilFuel use to the tune of billions of $ a year (Tax concessions and foregone revenue) when #Renewables have proven to be cheaper, cleaner, morally and ethically superior in every way. The pace of electrification is stochastic only because of these divergent public investment strategies and the inconsistent ‘signals’ to investors and developers of clean energy.
